Woman claims US Airways lost husband's ashes

January 23, 2012

Angeline O'Grady arrived in her husband's hometown of Hull, England to scatter his ashes when she discovered his box was empty.  O'Grady was told by TSA agents that she was not permitted to bring the box of ashes on board with her and was forced to check the box with a "fragile" sticker.

When she arrived at her sister-in-law's house, she opened her luggage.
"When I opened the baggage and everything the ashes weren't there." O'Grady said. The family tried to contact US Airways by phone and e-mail but recieved no response.

US Airways says that the complaints were recieved and the incident was issued a case number, but the location of the remains is still unknown.  The company has since apologized to the O'Gradys and insist that they are continuing to investigate the matter.

If ashes are being lost, should airport security allow them as carry ons? What can US Airways do to make it right?

Why doesn't the ATM want my card?

Summary:  Over the past few weeks I've noticed a change to the ATM I visit on West Broad in front of Five Guys. It's a Bank of America ATM and the main reason I like it is because there is only a $2 fee to use it.   Over the past few weeks I've noticed a change to the ATM I visit on West Broad in front of Five Guys. It's a Bank of America ATM and the main reason I like it is because there is only a $2 fee to use it. The last few times I visited the ATM, I put my card in the slot and the ATM immediatley gave me the card back.  I was a little alarmed at first and tried to put the card back in but the screen prompted me to input my PIN number instead. I was able to complete my transaction but it threw me out of my comfort zone. read more
