Who is Jeremy Lin?

February 7, 2012

Jeremy Lin is not a common name you hear when you think of NBA guards, but Lin is stepping up big for the Knicks. The Knicks had high expectations this season. They spent a lot of money on Tyson Chandler to be the defensive anchor. The Knicks, like alot of other teams in the NBA this season, are looking for players to step up becuse the season is so short amd compact. It looks like the Knicks might have found a spark in Jeremy Lin. Lin went to Harvard college and was all Ivy League his junior and senior seasons at Harvard. He averaged 17.8 points per game as well as 5.5 assists his junior season. His senior season he averaged 16.4 points per game and 4.5 assists. Lin graduated with a degree in economics and had a 3.1 GPA. After Harvard, Lin tried to make it in the NBA. Lin was an undrafted player who eventually found his way to the Dallas Mavericks summer league team. After being cut from the Mavericks he bounced around the NBA Development League. He then signed a two year deal with the Golden State Warriors and played sparingly. Then on December 27,2011 Lin was claimed by the New York Knicks off waviers after rookie guard Iman Shumpert went down with an injury. Lin has been playing well and has become a fan favorite in New York. Who knew a kid from Harvard would be playing in the NBA? The last Harvard basketball player to make it in the NBA was in 1954, Ed Smith. It just goes to show you that smart kids can do more than just be scientists or politicians, they can also make it in the NBA.

Why doesn't the ATM want my card?

Summary:  Over the past few weeks I've noticed a change to the ATM I visit on West Broad in front of Five Guys. It's a Bank of America ATM and the main reason I like it is because there is only a $2 fee to use it.   Over the past few weeks I've noticed a change to the ATM I visit on West Broad in front of Five Guys. It's a Bank of America ATM and the main reason I like it is because there is only a $2 fee to use it. The last few times I visited the ATM, I put my card in the slot and the ATM immediatley gave me the card back.  I was a little alarmed at first and tried to put the card back in but the screen prompted me to input my PIN number instead. I was able to complete my transaction but it threw me out of my comfort zone. read more
