What is your new year's resolution?

December 27, 2012

January 1, 2013 is just around the corner. Well, actually it's Tuesday and that means that it's time to set those new year's resolutions up.

I never really stick to mine. I'm always going to lose weight (I did last year, but not because I tried), or I'm always going stop saying my favorite four letter word (yeah, that didn't work).

This year, my main resolution is instead of seeing a bunch of local shows, I'm going to travel a little to see my favorite bands. Mostly, because I want to travel.

Of course, I don't have to travel as far as I did when I lived in Valdosta (living between Atlanta and Orlando had it perks but it always meant a 3-4 hour drive to see a major show. There's Atlanta... Charlotte.. Nashville... and yes, I've checked. Orlando is like an 8 hour drive. Plus I want to go to New York and Boston to see a show.

What are your resolutions? Or are you even planning any?

    Blog: Watching movies by myself

Summary:  I'm not saying it's lonely to be a movie critic, but we often find ourselves seated alone in an empty theatre when we're watching new stuff. I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself. No cartoons on racism

As you might imagine, the vast majority of the editorial cartoons available these days for publication through the syndicate which supplies cartoons to the Athens Banner-Herald/OnlineAthens are addressing the situation in Ferguson, Mo., where the fatal shooting of a black teen by a white police officer has touched off a number of demonstrations -- some peaceful, but many not at all peaceful, with tear gas fired by police officers and gunshots fired by some protester. read more
