What was your favorite album of 2012?

December 14, 2012

Various newspapers, magazines, online blogs, etc. are releasing their top albums of 2012... and 2012 isn't over yet. Well, it's almost over. And there were some big names that came out with new albums this year.

Most blogs, etc. are saying that Frank Ocean's "Channel Orange" is the best album of the year and probably the biggest breakthrough. One Direction was just named Artist of the Year by MTV and obviously Taylor Swift sold the most in a week this year in, for like, ever, ever (or at least since the early 2000's).

So what were your top albums of 2012?

Here's my list  (In no particular order):

-- "Red" by Taylor Swift

-- "The Truth About Love" by P!nk

-- "Thomas Rhett EP" by Thomas Rhett

-- "Night Train" by Jason Aldean

-- "Blown Away" by Carrie Underwood

-- "Take Me Home" by One Direction

-- "Looking 4 Myself" by Usher

-- "Overexposed" by Maroon 5

-- "Spring Break 4... Suntan City EP" by Luke Bryan

-- "Living Things" by Linkin Park

-- "North" by Matchbox Twenty

-- "R.E.D" by Ne-Yo

-- "Lotus" by Christina Aguilera

-- "Greatest Hits - Chapter 1" by Kelly Clarkson

Rep. Regina Quick pulls no punches on Chamber scorecard

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

UPDATED: Draft language of so-called curfew ordinance

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.   Full text of the Use of Public Right-of-Ways ordinance draft is below. read more
