What made Coach Richt so mad?

December 3, 2012

Saturday was a true disappointment for Georgia and Bulldog fans.  The players and coaches worked hard and in the end, didn't win the big game.

Over the past season, a number of fans have voiced the concern that Coach Mark Richt and Georgia Quarteback Aaron Murray don't have what it takes to win big games.

One critic decided to confront Richt during the post-game press conference on Saturday night.

Check out this exchange between the reporter and a pretty mad Richt:

Did this reporter have a vaild point? If so, was this the right time to ask that question?

Was the reporter out of line?

When I watched the video, I was glad that Richt reacted the way he did. Richt is normally very subdued about his emotions in public and its good to see him get mad and show some frustration. I'd like to see more emotion from Richt. Do you agree?

If you were Richt, what would you have said to the reporter?

Rep. Regina Quick pulls no punches on Chamber scorecard

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

UPDATED: Draft language of so-called curfew ordinance

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.   Full text of the Use of Public Right-of-Ways ordinance draft is below. read more
