Valentine's Day deals in Athens

February 13, 2012

Looking to make plans for Valentine's Day in Athens? If you're scrambling to make some last minute plans, there are a few places in Athens with Valentine's Day deals that will impress your date without breaking the bank.

The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is offering a romantic evening in a tropical landscape with a buffet-style dinner catered by Donderos' Kitchen.  For $80 a couple, you and your Valentine can listen to live music and sample the dessert of your choice. Couples can even bring their own wine.

East West Bistro's Valentine's menu includes a Lobster Bao Slider appetizer, Grilled New York Strip entree, and an espresso-white chocolate cannoli for dessert.

If you have a lot of Valentine's or just a very hungry one, Gigi's Cupcakes is offering a sampler of their Valentine's Day minis for $25.  I've already placed my order as a gift to myself, from myself.

The National is offering a four course Valentine's Day dinner for $50 a person.  Couples have four oversized desserts to choose from and share including Pecan Waffle bread pudding and Boston Cream Terrine. A la carte is available at the bar if you and your date are looking to have a more private dinner and avoid Valentine's Day crowds.

If you want a dinner you can feel good about, Farm 225 is offering their locally-sourced menu for couples.  For $48 a person, you and your date will start off with a glass of champagne and end with your choice of frozen banana pie, chocolate fudge cake, or olive oil cake.

If your date is a little more laid back, Mellow Mushroom is offering a medium pizza, two salads, and a domestic pitcher for $25.99.

Feel free to "accidentally" leave this post up on your significant other's desktop. Also be sure to call ahead and make reservations.

Will you be taking advantage of one of these deals tomorrow night?  Have you heard of any other deals for Valentine's Day in Athens?

Why doesn't the ATM want my card?

Summary:  Over the past few weeks I've noticed a change to the ATM I visit on West Broad in front of Five Guys. It's a Bank of America ATM and the main reason I like it is because there is only a $2 fee to use it.   Over the past few weeks I've noticed a change to the ATM I visit on West Broad in front of Five Guys. It's a Bank of America ATM and the main reason I like it is because there is only a $2 fee to use it. The last few times I visited the ATM, I put my card in the slot and the ATM immediatley gave me the card back.  I was a little alarmed at first and tried to put the card back in but the screen prompted me to input my PIN number instead. I was able to complete my transaction but it threw me out of my comfort zone. read more
