Why would anyone be so stupid as to let the cops in the door after the mention smelling the odor. I'd be telling them they can come in when they have a warrant or I will be forced to defend my home from unwanted visitors.
posted @ Friday, March 29, 2013 - 15:57You gotta love the logic of creating laws to try and affect or control the behavior of criminals...
BRILLIANT!!!!!

If you're not a student or an employee of the university, why would you ever need to bring a gun to campus.
Again. I encourage the UGA admin to uphold a ban on guns on campus. We don't need this kind of crap in our classrooms and workplaces.

WHY???? because we line in the USA where crime is the highest of any place on the planet. I personally would never consider going into town without carrying a sidearm. Too many freaks an crazies out there and you can't tell who is who until it's too late.

Sinister???? hardly. Guns are fun to shoot... period. Only a gun fearing moron would think guns are sinister.
posted @ Thursday, March 28, 2013 - 16:09What idiot parents to let their infant play with 7 large dogs. What did they think was going to happen. Some people are too stupid to be parents... but there is nothing to control that.
posted @ Thursday, March 28, 2013 - 16:03If they catch an illegal alien with a gun , he is supposed to be deported in the first place. This bill is irrelevant.
posted @ Thursday, March 28, 2013 - 15:58This is rather idiotic to say one can possess a firearm on campus but cannot take it into student housing. Even if UGA allowed this, it would mean that only students who don't live on campus can carry on campus which is a ridiculous decision. However, even if the state passed the bill, each school will set its own policy.
posted @ Thursday, March 28, 2013 - 15:54As an owner of a similar dog, I do feel it may be necessary to put the animal down. These dogs are very powerful and capable of doing great harm if not properly trained and controlled. Most 'pit bulls' I have known are very sweet and gentle around all people. Any dog, regardless of size, is capable of going out of control and causing harm if it is not well controlled.

posted @ Wednesday, March 6, 2013 - 12:43What a huge pile of lies to help support the illusion that this country will ever get better. IT won't happen because it can't happen given the condition of our economy and state of affairs. This country is still headed down the crapper and there is nothing anyone on the planet can do about it.
posted @ Wednesday, March 6, 2013 - 12:36Wow, actually a smart decision from any level of government. IT would be smart if every town in America adopted this logic. Criminals would think twice if they knew everyone was armed.
posted @ Wednesday, March 6, 2013 - 12:26these people need to go back to wherever they came from and leave us alone
posted @ Wednesday, March 6, 2013 - 12:20A bunch of idiotic bureaucratic who have not a clue how to enjoy life doing their best to make sure others can't enjoy it either. It's nothing more than a huge waste of time and money this country doesn't have.

And if my folks ever caught me doing something like that I wouldn't be able to sit down for a week or go out for 2 years.
posted @ Wednesday, February 27, 2013 - 20:28Finally, lawmakers are beginning to make some sense. They've needed to do exactly this for quite some time now. In this day and age, I wouldn't ever consider stepping out into public without carrying a firearm. And I certainly would never go somewhere that idiot, ignorant youths are who might be armed. Since there are so many moronic parents who choose to allow their children access to firearms, it just goes to prove that the only problem we have in this country with regard to firearms is allowing them into the wrong hands. Since criminals will always have guns, it only makes sense for law abiding citizens to defend themselves.

posted @ Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 15:37It amazes me the store is still in business given how ridiculously expensive they are in contrast to other local gun stores. I have also been very disappointed with their service and how difficult it has always been to get someone to wait on you or show you a gun.
Folks... if you want to buy firearms, go to Sporting Arms in Winterville or Shooters Den in Watkinsville. Each will give excellent customer service and do whatever is needed to make the customer happy.
posted @ Sunday, January 6, 2013 - 20:11If they don't want to sell the guns to the public, there are plenty of other stores happy to serve law abiding citizens.
posted @ Friday, January 4, 2013 - 17:51
gman129 - I would have preferred this:
2 thugs were shot while holding a gun on a person returning from work. The thugs demanded he give them "whatcha got". He had a Glock 21 and gave them 4 shots each. The family of the 2 thugs said they were always such good boys.
Yep, if more people armed them selves, thugs would think twice about mugging someone. I live on eastside and even though it's not thought of as a crime ridden area I always carry a pistol. Anything could happen anywhere.
posted @ Friday, January 4, 2013 - 17:48Anyone who thinks guns should be kept out of the hands of the public is a moron. How would you protect yourself and family if someone broke into your house at night when the cops are minutes away... at least? I carry a gun when in public because I am not strong enough to carry a cop.
Any gun capable of killing someone is an assault weapon so the wording says that all guns are to be banned. We know this can't happen because there are already many thousands of these guns in people's possession. If such a ban were to happen, it's not as if people are going to just go hand in their guns to the cops. If authorities try to go to houses and collect guns, that will work for a few hours until the rest of the country gets word of it, then they will either leave the house with their guns or shoot anyone who comes and tries to take them.... regardless of who it may be.

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.
