What a bunch of hooey. My wife has taught school for almost 30 years in low income and high income schools. In her experience, the common denominator is the kid that gets disciplined is the kid that is the behavior problem period. Kids aren't getting suspended for throwing a spit ball. While teaching in an Atlanta area elementary school, she had a kid bring a weapon to school and another brought a in bag of pot. It all starts and ends at home. If a kid of any color isn't taught to behave or respect adults and authority by the parents he certainly won't turn on the charm when he arrives at his school or later at his job. Making excuses for disruptive behavior based on skin color pleases the PC crowd but totally ignores the root of the problem.

With a 4 arrest day we should now be out front in the Fulmer Cup standings.

Those of you that think this debacle was about anything other than politics have your heads buried in the sand.

Let's see. Smoke weed all day or take advantage of a free education and the opportunity to make millions playing a game. Pass the doobie!

cwillocks is absolutely right about liberals being open minded. They are extremely open minded right up to the point that you disagree with them.

@nowheregirl: I'm posting this from a different computer than I did last night at 8:44 pm. It took 3-4 minutes to get the page to load and probably another minute to bring up the comments. Not to worry though. I logged on with my ipad and got the same results. Now way will I pay for this dial up speed!

ABH. I had to click on this story 4 times to get it to open. This isn't the kind of thing that makes me want to pay!

@grove600: Or the writer insulting the reader.

@Joe Johnson: Use of the word force was directed at the ABH not you personally. I thought I made that fairly clear.

Why not report on the increase or decrease in visits to your website since you've forced readers to subscribe. Joe, you sound a little defensive in your comment above about the disappearance of regular posters. Based on what I've seen during my 30 day give you a chance to earn my money trial, posters are down maybe 80% from what they were. Am I right or wrong? I'm guessing those former regulars are making a loud statement on the value or lack of value a paid subscription brings. My personal gripe which I never expressed previously is the slow rate that pages load and the slower rate that comments load. I also find your content on Monday to be nothing more than filler and badly lacking substance. If you expect me to pay a subscription and put up with these issues, you will see my handle disappear as well.

This hire once again proves the right wing bias of Fox.

I"ve got a better idea. Let's all go eat at KFC and donate the buckets which will make a nice chicken bucket pyramid memorial for the those never given the opportunity to cross the road.

I guess this is one of pelosi's "we've got to pass the bill before you can see what's in it" nuggets.

I never commented on this type of thing even though it is quite frequent; however, now that I'm forced to pay I see it a little differently. ABH, get the words spelled correctly, speed up the loading of pages, and improve this product or my money will walk. The clock is ticking!

The wealthy also engage in activities and behavior that produce greater wealth. I'm talking about little things everyone can do like making saving a priority over spending. They also don't get let debt overtake them and they don't spend compulsively. In other words, they live within their means. These are all things that an hourly worker as well as a CEO can do. They will save at different levels and rates but the end result is that these behaviors will increase the wealth of anyone who commits to them.

    Blog: Watching movies by myself

Summary:  I'm not saying it's lonely to be a movie critic, but we often find ourselves seated alone in an empty theatre when we're watching new stuff. I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself. No cartoons on racism

As you might imagine, the vast majority of the editorial cartoons available these days for publication through the syndicate which supplies cartoons to the Athens Banner-Herald/OnlineAthens are addressing the situation in Ferguson, Mo., where the fatal shooting of a black teen by a white police officer has touched off a number of demonstrations -- some peaceful, but many not at all peaceful, with tear gas fired by police officers and gunshots fired by some protester. read more
