Athens boy arrested after threatening to stab mother, cousin

" the entire incident occurred mostly because he did'nt want to make his bed" Really? He should have been in my house. He would have made his bed and gone to school. He might have cried all the way to school but his mission would have been accomplished. No need to call the police. As far as him threaten to stab me, just let him try and see what happen. I raised my children they did'nt raise me.

Athens teen allegedly set up home invasion in which victim lost an eye

@pumpkin, I believe you and this young lady's mother and I are on the same page as far as being with the wrong crowd and committing this crime, so let's move past that. However I CAN imagine this young lady turning her life around and doing well in society by the time she is 25. Weather she does good or bad is up to her. She will be prosecuted and pay for the crime that she committed, but I hate to inform you that the key will not be thrown away and one day she will get out of jail.

@annette4166, I will keep you and your daughter in prayer. So often most of the readers will post ugly comments about your daughter, her family, not having a father in the home, being a government free loaders etc. That is not alway the case. I commend you and your husband for the way you raised your daughter. It is not your fault that she chose to take the wrong road and get involved in crimes. and no it is not too late for her to turn her life around and hopefully she will look back on what you and your husband instilled in her and change her ways. Please don't let the negative post break your spirit. Stay strong and may God contimue to bless and keep you and your family.

NAACP plans Atlanta rally to protest Zimmerman acquittal

.@snarkydude, your mind is already made up. You don't believe I have an education. I may have used my education to assist you in some way. You never know. That's your porblem, you are quick to judge a person without knowing that person. You think you have a better education and that you are better than the people speaking out on behalf of Trayvon Martin. I do have a beautiful home in Athens Clarke County. You did'nt know that now did you? You just assumed that I was an uneducated person living in low income housing and a low life. You are assuming and we all know that the first three letters in in "assuning" are "ass" and based on the comments you made that's what you are.

@2dollars, thanks for confirming that you are a racist. I suspected that you were but now I know. Glad to hear that you are working. While you are at it try working on changing your ways and not be judgemental. Have a nice day.

Hundreds gather in Athens at 'Justice for Trayvon' rally

For those who ask "what is your point"? My point is, Zimmerman was looking to attack and shoot and that's exactly what he did. However Martin most likely was getting the best of Zimmerman and being the coward that Zimmerman is, he used his gun and killed Trayvon Martin. I'm really, really finish making comments about this incident. You racist people going to believe what you want to believe anyway. Bye Bye.

@ Okra, you are disparate and it's showing. You still do not want to believe that Zimmerman was told not to follow Martin. Your are also desparate to justify Zimmerman killing Trayvon Martin. We can go on and on with our opinions, but i'm not going to do that. You have a great day.
Rest In Peace G=Trayvon Martin.

    No cartoons on racism

As you might imagine, the vast majority of the editorial cartoons available these days for publication through the syndicate which supplies cartoons to the Athens Banner-Herald/OnlineAthens are addressing the situation in Ferguson, Mo., where the fatal shooting of a black teen by a white police officer has touched off a number of demonstrations -- some peaceful, but many not at all peaceful, with tear gas fired by police officers and gunshots fired by some protester. read more
