The Editor's Desk: Are we living in an ungovernable country?

My opinionated response to being "ungovernable":

If one holds dear the premise of "Land of the Free" and then finds the Government having it's ugly fingers stuck in virtually every aspect of one's life, then it is highly likely that one would voice rejection of that Government.

A better response to becoming "ungovernable" from The Declaration of Independence:

"'....We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness......"

"...I had to shoot these two “children” again..." That was a tough situation and I commend you for doing the responsible thing and not just walking away leaving them injured. .

It is your choice not to hunt, but if you eat meat or use any form of leather then you have just delegated the killing to someone else. I respect your right to do that and I hope you respect my right to disagree with you. I hunt to supplement my food budget AND have a food source free of growth hormones.

I certainly have some concerns about Obama, but his closing tax loop holes on corporations and the wealthy should have the support of everyone.

And, as I've said on here before, there's not a single person posting on here who's in the top 5% of the country financially.

When the DOD can show that they do not have will never again have anything like the $5.2 million they spent on goldfish — studying goldfish to see how democratic they were and if we could learn about democracy from goldfish then I'll agree that the military should get no cuts. At a minimum that $5.2 million should have gone to the WARRIORS not the BUREAUCRATS!!!

The King With No Clothes (aka Chicken Little) will be in Newport News Va today to point out the fact that aircraft carriers will not be started/finished with looming cuts.

So, the DOD can either kill off aircraft carriers OR stop stuff like the $5.2 million they spent on goldfish — studying goldfish to see how democratic they were and if we could learn about democracy from goldfish.

Tough Choices; aircraft carriers or understanding democratic gold fish? Man this budget cutting is a tough situation!!!!

The financial wizzards in DC have put the government (us) in debt to the tune of $16,000,000,000,000+++. If they can't figure out how to rationally reduce planned INCREASES (NOT Spending, but INCREASES) by 2.5% (that's 2.5 CENTS on each Dollar) then we are already BANKRUPT!!!

Of course we the "subjects" need to be taught the lesson that ALL the money the Goobernment spends is critical. In order to do that, there will be a careful selection of the "most painful the quickest" programs cut.

The Sky is falling, the sky is falling!!!!!!!

Term limits for members of Congress?

I have already implemented term limits -if the ballot says "incumbent" I vote for the other candidate.

What I want to know is if congress has such a LOW approval rating (only slighty above crap sandwiches) why do voters keep sending the same yahoos back every time they come up for re-election?
