Dallas nurses cite sloppy conditions in Ebola care

Left in an open area? Worked with or around the patient without protective gear? Changing protocol, or no protocol, you expect people who have such important responsibilities to have common sense.

Woman caught in jury duty scam

Being threatened and frightened out of your wits is no joking matter. Scammers have picked out their victims, usually older people, and formed plans. It is they who should be criticized, ostracized, and jailed for lengthy periods. I would throw away the cell key. Angry

1st Ebola patient diagnosed in US dead

Health agencies from the world over should have jumped on this long ago. What goes around comes around, but this needed not to have been the killer it turned out to be. American health agencies and those of other countries should put more rigor into the well-being of its citizens. Everyone fell short here. Why? Because Africa is afar? That is not so: the world goes around in circles, and we must all be committed to protect one another world wide.

Tobacco ban takes effect today at UGA - no e-cigarettes, either

Does the ban include the dorms? That would be really tough for these smokers despite free cessation programs. Sorta like a gustpo (sp) tactic.

Frye: Lawmakers should delay implementation of state's new teacher evaluation system

Since we're intent upon hiring more administrators, trained consultants and lead teachers, it would surely serve the learners well if these administrators/consultants/lead teachers help construct, evaluate and promote teachers' plans, and spend more time in the classrooms mentoring and encouraging these learners. These worn out teachers need a helping hand where it counts - in the classroom.

    Blog: Watching movies by myself

Summary:  I'm not saying it's lonely to be a movie critic, but we often find ourselves seated alone in an empty theatre when we're watching new stuff. I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself. No cartoons on racism

As you might imagine, the vast majority of the editorial cartoons available these days for publication through the syndicate which supplies cartoons to the Athens Banner-Herald/OnlineAthens are addressing the situation in Ferguson, Mo., where the fatal shooting of a black teen by a white police officer has touched off a number of demonstrations -- some peaceful, but many not at all peaceful, with tear gas fired by police officers and gunshots fired by some protester. read more
