Limbaugh: Apology to student was sincere
silent_majority - Did I miss something, or are the Republicans trying to make it illegal to take birth control?
Yes you did.

Is something controlling Rush's brain again other than his paranoid delusions?

GOP senators fail to reverse birth control rule

@Libralady: Sen. Snow will indeed be missed. The "Since they are for it then I must oppose it" attitude is deadlocking Washington as well as leading to a public cynicism against all politiciansto an extent that we have never seen before. Unfortunately, the Tea Party "no compromise and take no prisoners" approach is driving away some good moderate Republicans who by working in a bipartisan manner have made governmental progress and inspired confidence in our democratic form of government.

Government eyes popular malt liquor Four Loko

So let's just remove speed limits, allow companies to sell kid's pajamas without flame retardant, not require FDA approval of drugs, legalize heroin, not require railings on hotel balconies and give everyone the choice of whether to strap their child into a safety seat. That, my friends, would then be a free country. Sometimes government has to protect us form other idiots, and unfortunately, sometimes from ourselves.

GOP senators fail to reverse birth control rule

The sad part of this fiasco is that this was attempted as an amendment to a transportation bill. Congress makes every attempt to confuse and stymie any attempt at reasonable legislation. Adding a controversial and totally unrelated amendment, rather than calling for a straight up or down vote on each issue, leads to governmental deadlock and failure. But remember, that is what the republicans want. They don't want to help this country--the simply want to defeat the President. This type of raw hatred, to the point of harming our country in a time of great difficulty, is downright scary and reminiscent of darker times in our history.

Obama demands Congress end oil, gas subsidies

I agree that a key to ending our foreign oil dependence is conservation. However, the type of car you choose is not the only factor in determining your mpg. Mileage varies greatly based upon how you drive. If you drive at or near the speed limit, avoid jack-rabbit starts and coast up to the red light rather than slamming your brakes at the last minute, you can improve your mileage 40% or more. And the more sensible driving keeps down repair and maintenance, saves lives and injuries and greatly reduces your stress level while driving. Just relax a little while driving and don't treat each trip to the grocery store as a mini Daytona 500. And then think of your safe driving as a very patriotic act.

Ga. court sides with elderly woman facing eviction

Unfortunately, this court decision and resulting article is much ado about nothing. The ruling of the Supreme Court was simply that Ms. James did not receive proper service of the pleadings and thus "summary judgment",i. e., judgment without a trial, was improper. The case will be sent back down to the trial court to basically start over. Ms. James may very well eventually win her case but this is not asured and will certainly involve a long legal battle still.

Santorum surges, Obama leads Republicans
Pologize - The economy is recovering, the automotive industry is back, GM is now the number one auto company in the world again, Iraq is over, troops are coming home from afghanistan, bin laden is dead, several terrorist plots against the US have been stopped, unemployment is starting to decline. Yeah, Obama has really screwed up this country. LOL.. Maybe he can fix all his mistakes by invading some random country.
The ostrich republicans refuse to acknowledge any of this. They can't stand it that the President's policies are turning around the economy that the Bush policies pushed off the cliff. The personal hatred for the President is so intense that unfortunately there is a sizeable number of people out there who would rather see this great nation fail than have this particular President succeed. For the sake of our country, I hope that the anti-Obama hatemongers do not succeed. The polls show that they are in the minority and I hope and pray that it stays that way.

Santorum surges, Obama leads Republicans

It is sad that the republicans cannot say anything positive about the fact that the economic collapse that began 5-6 years ago under Bush is finally turning around. It's like they would rather things stay bad so that they can blame the President. As Sen. Mcconnell said about the republican Congress: "The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one term President". Not jobs, the economy, education, national security, etc. Just beat that outsider we all hate. Very patriotic??????

Ga. man released from death row to speak at Berry

Forgiveness and redemption are two wonderful gifts that we can receive from God through the death of Jesus. The New Testament teaches forgiveness, not revenge. Aparently the victim"s family believed in this and did not oppose his release. Now that he is released it seems he is trying to help others. Just ask yourself, WWJD? Foregive my religious rant, which I usually avoid on this blog, but some of the comments made just seemed so un-Christian and anti- Biblical.

Santorum says global warming is politics, not science

I guess "professor" as opposed to "senior lecturer" is like "birth certificate" versus "certificate of birth". Cut the President a little slack. He's been "Trumped" enough.

Santorum says global warming is politics, not science

@Anonymous Dude: You are partially correct. Santorum's nomitation assures the re-election of the incumbent, but the nomination of Romney, Gingrich or Paul will cause the same outcome. There are possibly some moderate republicans who could make it a close race, but they are playing it safe and waiting until the next cycle. The republicans are wasting their time and money this year.

Santorum says global warming is politics, not science

This is just another example of how today's republicans are out with touch with mainstream America. By November, they will only have the support of the small sliver of voters that subscribe to this radical right wing philosopy. They had better back up, regroup and come up with some moderate candidates in four years. Just look at all the national polls that show the incumbent leading and pulling away.

Romney, Santorum likely to skip March 1 debate in Ga.

Santorum to campaign in Georgia

@ppensyl: You're right. Barring something completely unforeseeable, the incumbent will win by a landslide. All national polls show President Obama with a commanding lead. While all we hear in Georgia is hateful rantings about the President, that is not true nationwide. Further, none of the republican contenders can stand up to close scrutiny. It looks like the republicans knew from the start that it is a lost cause and they are saving their big guns for the next election.

Mormons apologize for posthumous Jewish baptism

It will be a great test of the system to see how much effect these far from the mainstream beliefs will influence the typical republican voter, particularly the evangelicals.

Gingrich says he's in the race to stay

@Follow the Money: We reap what we sow. For decades, the Supreme Court has been packed with conservative pro-corporate justices appointed by Republicans who can come up ideas like the "free speech" rights of billionaires mean that they have the right to buy elections.

Gingrich shunned lobbying, but hired lobbyists

You guys think President Obama got a free ride from the media? Have you forgotten the months of questioning the views of his pastor? Or screaming about the relative legalities of a "certificate of live birth" vs a birth certificate? Let's see them start questioning Romney's or Gingrich's pastors or the equivalents of such in their faiths. Then you guys might have something to gripe about.

Why doesn't the ATM want my card?

Summary:  Over the past few weeks I've noticed a change to the ATM I visit on West Broad in front of Five Guys. It's a Bank of America ATM and the main reason I like it is because there is only a $2 fee to use it.   Over the past few weeks I've noticed a change to the ATM I visit on West Broad in front of Five Guys. It's a Bank of America ATM and the main reason I like it is because there is only a $2 fee to use it. The last few times I visited the ATM, I put my card in the slot and the ATM immediatley gave me the card back.  I was a little alarmed at first and tried to put the card back in but the screen prompted me to input my PIN number instead. I was able to complete my transaction but it threw me out of my comfort zone. read more
