He got exactly what he deserved for plotting to rip-off a green dot card. He's not only dishonest, but he's stupid too!

Macy's just invited major problems by not prosecuting the minors! Shoplifting is a freebie for minors at Macy's. Huge mistake in my opinion.

@Oistrakh: My bad....I missed a most critical word "fatal" when reading that article. Guess I had better slow up and take my time while reading...thanks.

Thanks, OCC, for the clarification. That's sad news. I couldn't tell from the story if they survived the crash or not.

I presume the occupants survived the crash? What is their condition?

She doesn't deserve to wear the uniform of any branch of our military services!!! Send her back to the hood. She wasn't bright for posting her disrespecting the flag on social media....dumb, really dumb!

Tsarneva will probably go to trial before Jamie Hood does.

@OCCountry: How bout eleven strikes and you're out? Time for some facility to keep him incarcerated for about fifty years or so. He's had ample opportunity to show everyone that he has changed for the better...but in reality he has no intention of ever changing his behavior.

Since those two like doing things together like murdering someone for a thrill, if they're found guilty...execute them together!

@OCCountry: You can Google DA Pamphlet 385-40, Army Accident Investigations and Reporting, Chapter 3, page 42 for information on Army aviation accidents and how they are classified.

Welcome to Athens and the Bulldawg Nation, Coach Pruitt. I wish you great success as the new DC. I'm looking forward to watching the Dawgs on defense next season. Again, welcome to Athens and UGA.

The life of Clayton Patman III, murdered by Charles Knox, was worth only six years in prison for Charles Knox? That says a lot about our judicial system....

It's unbelievable that a low down snake like BP can get another coaching job that will pay him millions of dollars. He's untrustworthy to say the least. He's also a terrible husband for cheating on his wife, and for hiring his girlfriend and paying her an outrageous salary. Good luck, Louisville, you know what you're getting into by hiring such a turd.

I'm sure to many people military medals are just pieces of colored cloth with a metal attachment of some kind. But in actuality a medal represents much more to the person to whom it was awarded, especially the Purple Heart Medal (PHM). The PHM represents a wound suffered by the military person up to and including the loss of the individual's life, for which he/she was recognized by the government of the United States. Ordinarily a medal signifies something meaningful to the individual concerned, unless it's someone like John Kerry who made a big deal of throwing his (or maybe not his) medals over the fence surrounding the White House.

Seems like an appropriate action by the police officer. Prudent move, I say.

@The Oracle of the Athens Banner Herald: That's true and it's also funny. Maddux was a great pitcher, but he didn't overpower any hitters...he just out-smarted them.

I'm very disappointed to read that a general officer has been charged with sexual assault, especially on a junior officer. And if he's found guilty, he should be punished appropriately and without regard to his rank.

@Lady of the Lake: You are correct. People that are abusive towards others never change. If he's beat on her once he'll do it again...and again...and again. She should drop him like a bad habit and never see him again.

Aaron Murray sounds like an upstanding young man, and his parents should be justly proud of him. UGA should be proud of him too for his accomplishments on the football field, as well as helping the kids at ESP. Thanks, Aaron. Best of luck to you in all future endeavors.

@Severin: What a thug and POS! I cringed and felt terrible when I got a speeding ticket about ten years ago!!! Looks like I'm not doing too badly when compared to the woman beater!

@gooddogmom: If you're not over forty years old at present you might get to see the Hood put on trial. If he's convicted and sentenced to death you might get to see that sentence carried out if you're not over thirty years old at this time...but it would probably be close even at thirty.

    Blog: Watching movies by myself

Summary:  I'm not saying it's lonely to be a movie critic, but we often find ourselves seated alone in an empty theatre when we're watching new stuff. I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself. No cartoons on racism

As you might imagine, the vast majority of the editorial cartoons available these days for publication through the syndicate which supplies cartoons to the Athens Banner-Herald/OnlineAthens are addressing the situation in Ferguson, Mo., where the fatal shooting of a black teen by a white police officer has touched off a number of demonstrations -- some peaceful, but many not at all peaceful, with tear gas fired by police officers and gunshots fired by some protester. read more
