Two dogs killed in westside Athens arson fire

@Jerry NeSmith: I was wondering about 'westside', too. When it was first reported, it was reported as 'eastside' so I checked today, and sure enough, Laurel Pointe is still on Gaines School Road -- EASTside.

Police: Cardinals RB Dwyer head-butted wife

He head-butted her!!! Every woman in America should refuse his sexual advances if he thinks he can act like that!

Athens Community Council on Aging program helps grandparents raising grandchildren

I am in awe of these grandparents raising grandchildren! I just babysit mine and cannot imagine 24/7 care of them. Many thanks to the Council on Aging for helping them.

South Carolina man jumped by UGA fans

@Oistrakh: Just like I said in response to a comment on another article: UGA fans + thugs = one and the same. Certainly not all, but many....

Hood claims he heard dead brother's voice before shooting Athens police officers

Too bad his brother's voice didn't remind him of what he was doing when he was killed....

I continue to count my lucky stars that I have a reason that I can't be on that jury, should I get called.

New mural celebrates Athens' creative spirit

It definitely does need a face lift there, Mr. Rosenberg. I was so happy to see the mural on my way into town a few weeks ago!

I also appreciate the city scape murals on some of the new Dollar General stores.

Many thanks to all of you.

Also does anyone on here know why we can't see photos of recent arrests and currently incarcerated on the sheriff's website anymore?

Oconee woman's wallet stolen while shopping for school supplies

Well, duh, what did she expect? Maybe next time she could just lay the purse, or even better the wallet, right on the floor so the thief could see it clearly.

I remember telling my mother forty-five years ago not to leave her purse in her cart at the grocery store, and now people are still doing it and at Walmart?

    Blog: Watching movies by myself

Summary:  I'm not saying it's lonely to be a movie critic, but we often find ourselves seated alone in an empty theatre when we're watching new stuff. I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself.
