Georgia governor engaged in Bible dispute

I have no issue with the bible being in any room the state owns provided the state does not exclude, and provides a space as with the bible, any other religion from placing their volume of sacred law there as well. It's really pretty simple.

Obama aims to halt perception of passive president

He should be easily elected to an office then...all politicians are paid liars.

Sounds like they should look into legislating/banning assault knives.

Athens-Clarke police looking for armed robbery suspect

White robber = drug addict. Black robber = typical thug low life.
Anyone who robs a store is a thug to me, and more than likely trying to get drug money.

At 5'7 and 140...he would have a hard time robbing many folks with just a knife.

Local police agencies seek grants for new DUI testing units
Minion -
No, patrol officers don't have the science training to meet quality control standards... the 9000 model is more "fool proof", less for them to do at beginning of the shift to record that calibration is in control.
.
So is 8K per machine cheaper than training the officers how to properly use the existing one??

Teen identified as fatality in pursuit crash on I-85
dudeintown67 - .There needs to be some sort of protocol for calling the damn chase off and just nabbing the kid later.

OR, they could just pull over and there would be no chase.

Bicyclist struck and killed in Augusta hit-and-run

Tragic. I have a lot of friends that ride on the roads and you couldn't pay me to do it. Very dangerous to me. My condolences to the family and hopefully they catch the guy who did it and put him in jail for life.

I am all for that.
The issue is that if they get in trouble and go to jail we are still paying for them.

State agency orders removal of Bibles at state parks

I have no objection to the State allowing, or providing a space, for Bibles in the rooms, so long as the state has no objection to every other religion who wants to leave their holy book in the room is allowed.

If the State were to deny the space for ANY other religious material, then it must deny all religious material.

Pretty simple.

Authorities release names of those arrested in flea market raid
gman129 - Some of the negative comments about the arrest of these thugs must not realize what they were doing is criminal. Why do you make excuses for their criminal behavior?
No excuse for their criminal behavior, but more as to how the police "pick and choose" when and what to enforce. They could raid every bar in Athens every weekend, and don't. They could collect illegal immigrants every weekend but don't. Just far too selective in when and how.

Authorities release names of those arrested in flea market raid
1965reader - I knew they weren't real because such name brands wouldn't sell in an outdoor market with denim wearing clerks. The owners of such brands demand upscale stores in prestigious areas to present and sell their goods in.
I don't believe anyone that buys anything "namebrand" there does so with the expectation that they are getting the real thing, why would they. So it isn't the customer that is being defrauded, it's the manufacturer of the real goods that don't like their name being infringed upon (which I understand). I see fakes/counterfeits all the time at my shop and I know the real manufacturers spend TONS trying to rid the market of them.

Minn. governor to sign bill allowing gay marriage
Millionexus - "Minnesota's most famous opponent of gay marriage also weighed in. U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, an ardent supporter of banning gay marriage when she served in the state Senate, released a statement expressing disappointment in a vote she said "denies religious liberty to people who believe in traditional marriage.""
She's a zealot. Gay marriage in NO WAY infringes on the religious liberty of another person, if anything it's the other way around. Religious opposition of gay marriage is infringing on the rights of those who do not believe in that religious belief.

The good news for Bachman is that all who religiously oppose gay marriage are still free to religiously oppose gay marriage , as is their church free to not marry gay people.

Chambliss seeks to declassify Benghazi e-mails
hardrocker - @TeeWee: I am sure you would welcome an investigation into the war in Iraq to determine the real reasons for that fiasco that caused the deaths of 50,000+ of our finest young men and women since you feel so patriotic these days!
I think you are thinking of Vietnam, where we lost 50K men. The death toll is no where near 50K in the current war, I believe it's closer to maybe 5K men lost. One is too many for the reasons we are there, but it's certainly not 50K troops lost.
