Any Republicans with courage are quickly disparaged by the media....
It's easy to see who the Democrats fear....

McFeatters: Listen up, America: Climate change is real

But the truth is that climate change, subscribed to by more than nine out of every 10 scientists .....

Probably the same survey takers that say, 9 out of 10 dentists recommend Crest...

McFeatters: Listen up, America: Climate change is real
RightWingExtremist - Sorry, even the IPCC revised their AR5 final draft downwards.
A very damning chart shows that global temperatures are dropping, not rising, since 2006 temperatures dropped a full 0.30 C, which leaves climate change and AGW proponents in limbo:

Gee.... Maybe the twits that said in the 1970s, "we'll have an ice age starting by the year 2000", were right....

Purcell: Fond farewell to incandescent bulbs

And anyone who bought enough incandescents to last their lifetime might as well have invested in a stockpile of buggy whips.

A senseless comment....

We, too, hoarded bulbs, and intend to use them for reading for as long as we want..... We have CFLs in the high hats in the kitchen and small lamps around the house... They are much cheaper to burn, but we don't like them....
CFL bulbs will go away soon, replaced with something better....Probably better/cheaper LEDs, as they are in their infancy.....

Man accidentally fires gun in Athens restaurant

Fatz should bar him, and put up "NO GUNS ALLOWED" signs in all its restaurants.

Yep... Put up a sign telling all the criminals, "come on it, it's safe here, nobody can defend themselves against you"

The Editor's Desk: Sheesh! How about getting involved?

Our local media is very lacking..... The population of Clarke county and surrounding communities can support mainstream tv stations.... I've lived in smaller communities that had much better outlets.....
Atlanta is not the answer....

Morgan: Obamacare can work

Always, the only thing you hear is premium cost....
Never deductible and out-of-pocket, or whether there are any doctors or hospitals that will honor it....
I hope Lee looked at those before opting for one of the plans....

Ponsoldt: State's refusal to expand Medicaid outrageous

And, remember... The ultimate goal is for a single payer system... Biden said so... The insurance companies rates will be so high, no one will be able to afford it... So, no buyers, no profit, no business...

On the other hand, maybe once the profit motive is removed, things would get better....

Blog: Can we please fix the Oscars?

Summary:  Fun facts: The first-ever Oscar ceremony, held in 1929, ran a brisk 15 minutes. By contrast, the longest was in 2002, clocking in at a monstrous 4 hours and change. As usual, there are things I loved about it and things I didn't. Rather than be snarky or complain, I'll offer a few suggestions on how the organizers might bring the show into the 21st century. Winter storm drama

Athens-Clarke County police officers responded to Pinewood Estates North on a 911 call concerning a heated domestic dispute. it reportedly was an argument over the lack of heat and food in a family's trailer and a woman was threatening to stab anyone who tried to take away her 7-month-old child. State patrol responded also, from their post nearby on U.S. Highway 29 North. The situation apparently was resolved. An officer reported he was driving the woman and infant to another home in Athens. read more
