Missing woman found, wanted to 'clear her head'

Something about this just dont seem right.. Why did they cancell the search party because they couldnt find her? Was she not worth to keep searching until they did find her?

Transmetropolitan to close westside location Sunday

I never went to this restaurant so i cant comment for or against it but after reading all the comments, it seems that the place had 2 major problems quality of food and the quality of service. For those who may not know or remember, the actual building used to be first a convenience store then it was an auto parts store both in a previous life. Maybe the ghosts of those previous pasts some how hung around and well.......

Engagement ring stolen in Athens

Ive read more than one account of stupidity in the blotter but this is the best. $4000 ring left in console of vehicle. Why was it not on his girlfriends finger? Why haul a $4000 ring around in your truck anyway? Some people......

Georgia Square Mall brings in New Year with a bang

WELL WELL WELL “There typically isn’t anything for families to do on New Year’s Eve" There used to be and it was called ATHENS FIRST NIGHT but the alcoholics too over that and it got cancelled. It was the WHOLE downtown area catering a non alcoholic event for the COMPLETE family. The mall CANT compete with that event the way it was presented. Pretty soon, the mall's "Fireworks Extravaganza" will be taken over..just a matter of time

Atlanta neighbors rally to save store from closure
Thomas Jefferson Snodgrass - Why don't they support him by buying stuff from his store?

Other than not getting local support, there has to be a reason or reasons that this local store hasnt been able to make it. Some good hearted citizen of the neighborhood should step in and evaluate the situation and see just exactly why he is having difficulties. TOO many neighborhood businesses like this have bitten the dust in years past.

S Harvey-Clemons, DB Dawson suspended for Gator Bowl due to team-rules violation

WHY dont the just tell what rules they broke and hopefully embarrass them or shame them for being idiots? WAIT. no that wouldnt work cause they dont care or hey dont give a darn and probably laugh about it. Georgia 10th in SEC...68th nationally in pass defense BUT FIRST in recruiting dumb masses... it makes the really honest and good players look bad.

As NORAD Tracks Santa, critics track NORAD

OK PEOPLE, I feel that the escorts for Santa are needed now more than ever due to the condition that the world has deteriorated to. Any sensible person would agree. This is simply utterly ridiculous to argue about this. Im just upset that the Canadians are the ones escorting the Jolly Ole Man and not us. BUT someone has to. If you wanna complain about something, complain about HALLOWEEN. We have taught AND are teaching our children that its ok to (1) beg from complete strangers for candy. (2) TAKE candy from strangers (3) dress like murders and evil do-ers and LAWD knows what else. Santa is the LAST thing we should worry about destroying. Teach children the REAL reason for Christmas along with Santa Claus, who in the beginning was Kris Kringle, A REAL PERSON.If we celebrated the joy and exuberance we feel for that one day a year the other 364 days, we would be WAY better off.

Athens restaurant worker tricked

This old tyme "switch a roo" was shown on television as part of a variety show segment at least 35 or 40 years ago. Its where you can actually walk in with a large bill, order food or merchandise, and flim flam the cashier and walk away with more money than you came in with. I guess it still works.

Prosecutor: No domestic charges against Zimmerman

How many times is this idiot going to be arrested and let go because either lack of evidence or the charges dropped? Hes got to be either the luckiest man on this planet OR the shrewdest person with the authorities.

Hall-bound Bobby Cox: The ideal player's manager

I had the honor and privilege of meeting Mr. Cox this past summer and he was the most humble appearing man youd ever want to know. Im sure he did change when on the field as Im sure anyone would but that day I feel that i met the REAL Bobby Cox. Congratulations on being elected a Hall of Famer. You are a class act.

Athens police arrest flasher wearing rainbow thong

I think that the comment "WEARING UNDERWEAR IN PUBLIC IS NOT A CRIME. Did I really need to spell out what he took out?" might have opened some proverbial doors. Any one with any amount of sense would know that "what he took out" didnt need to be spelled out.. hahaha but NOW we just might get a rash of people just wearing underwear only in public and NOT flashing junk. hahahha

QB Murray to sign autographs at Georgia Square Mall — for $35 a pop

@ChrisChambers: This seems to hit the nail square on the head.

If the money went for a charitable organization besides Mr. Murray, it would be worth it. But why are Ga football fans funding Mr. Murrays' Christmas? The article states that "He plans to travel to Georgia's bowl game and be with the team, but on his own accord" (with monetary funds from selling his autograph I guess). Im sorry but no matter how good of a person Mr. Murray was, hes lost a few points as far as his sincerity goes towards his fellow humans. BUT in his defense, he has the right to milk "his fans" for whatever he can get from them.

    Blog: Watching movies by myself

Summary:  I'm not saying it's lonely to be a movie critic, but we often find ourselves seated alone in an empty theatre when we're watching new stuff. I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself. No cartoons on racism

As you might imagine, the vast majority of the editorial cartoons available these days for publication through the syndicate which supplies cartoons to the Athens Banner-Herald/OnlineAthens are addressing the situation in Ferguson, Mo., where the fatal shooting of a black teen by a white police officer has touched off a number of demonstrations -- some peaceful, but many not at all peaceful, with tear gas fired by police officers and gunshots fired by some protester. read more
