Ideas:
1. Start teaching ALL children appropriate boundaries by our actions and our words.
2. Stop making violence look like fun--video games etc@E.J.:
3. When children are abused, believe them and insist that they get help.
4. When you notice controlling behavior, talk about and seek help if needed.
5. Model healthy non-violent, controlling relationships.
These are just a few ideas....

posted @ Tuesday, May 21, 2013 - 19:15Oh yay! Soft benefits!! So pretty much all this work was done, lots of people supported benefits for domestic partners, most of our peer institutions are already doing this, UGA could have done this for minimal cost (as per a previous article), yet we STILL won't offer benefits to domestic partners??? Awesome.

posted @ Tuesday, January 29, 2013 - 12:16Qualified workers are quick to leave DFCS because the workers often can't see the good that they are doing. In addition, the standards are constantly changing which makes it hard to retain quality workers. There are some pretty terrible supervisors which can add to the stress.

As a huge Backstreet Boys fan, I was little perplexed on reading Nick Carter?s book. It?s not like reading a book about Elvis Presley or The Beatles. I didn?t live through those moments. I didn?t see them in person. But as someone who has followed Nick?s career since I became a fan in 1998, not just in the Backstreet Boys, but as a solo artist, I?ve always thought we had a lot in common besides being the same age. read more

The Athens Banner-Herald sports staff combined to win 11 individual awards on Sunday at the Georgia Sports Writers Association's annual meeting in Marietta. You can get a few more details on that in this story ? "Banner-Herald sports staff wins 11 awards" ? and I thought I'd provide some links to the winning stories for the curious. The awards were for the sports staff's work in 2012. read more
