Man claims it a 'tradition' to do drugs at Athens location

Institutionalized. At least in jail no one can look down on him and he gets three squares and a bed. I dig it. Good job buddy.

Officials don't expect any foul play in Oconee Street United Methodist Church fire

Very sad. Many people count on that church for daily meals. Not to be cynical, but this incident really coincides with neighborhood upgrades that are taking place in that neighborhood. Getting rid of that soup kitchen would also get rid of the homeless people who hang out on that street while waiting for a meal. Can't be good for property values. Also makes it more difficult to attract tenants for the newly built high end condos that are about to open right across the street. Fishy indeed.

Food workers fired as Mass. students denied lunch

Sounds like the workers were just doing their jobs. Was it the policy of the company to give out free food?

I hope you're talking about Bush Sr.. Junior inherited a robust economy and turned it to feces. Obama is fixing Junior's mess.

Athens man strikes it rich with $2.5 million in Georgia Lottery scratch-off

That 1.25 will put him just about even with all of the lotto money that he's lost over his lifetime probably.

Caldwell-Pope named AP's SEC Player of Year

He needs to go and get paid before he blows out his knee or something. I love Georgia, but I hate seeing these kids miss out on opportunities due to some misplaced since of loyalty even more.

Study: welfare programs discourage work, marriage

There will always be an element of society that tries to get over. Just as members of the rich hire lawyers and accountants to circumvent the tax and legal system, members of the poor also figure out ways to take advantage of holes in these welfare programs. Human nature. Just don't target the poor only though. Target rich cheaters as well.

Man charged in Athens hit-and-run that placed pedestrian in coma

Not sure what he'll do with himself for the rest of his life, but to this point, his experiences have turned him into a complete and total scumbag loser. Anyone who would do something like that is among the lowest of the low.

That's complex is out of a lot of cash. Should have a no cash policy. Common sense really.

That lot needs a deck with at least 4 levels. That would make more sense. Seems like a tremendous waste.

Local delagtes want specifics on pitched assault weapon ban
Realist - Evil can't be banned.
No, but we can make it more difficult for evil to do it's business. I can't help but think that these mass murders would have less mass in them if the killers didn't have access to military grade semi-automatic assault weapons. Many of them would probably just stay home if they didn't have these type weapons in their possessions. The only purpose that these type weapons have in life is in the rare occasion of an alien invasion or the zombie apocalypse.

He has undrafted written all over him. It would behoove him to stay in school. If he does the offense will at least be great.

Man points gun at victim during confrontation

When a child grows up watching his mother stand in line and get free stuff his whole life, when he becomes a man, he's going to take that something for nothing mentality with him. Except he's going to take it to another level.

Garner leaves UGA to coach at Auburn

Recruiting coordinators should be one of the highest paid coaches on the staff. College sports is 90% recruiting and 10% everything else. Now they need to find another black person who can walk into these kids' homes and give their parents a false sense of security.
