When Stores Discriminate
annacat - Just for fun, I took a look at their website tonight. Fat, thin, cool kid or uncool kid, only an idiot would pay $128 for some Bedazzled cutoff jean shorts.
Another problem with their shorts for girls is that we really have to establish the line. Personally, I think the shorts are too short if your vagina shows.

Gay Georgia lawmaker to be honored by White House
loveUSA - @THX1138: Equal? When was the last time a heterosexual was recognized for his sexuality? There is nothing equal about this.
Why that would be the last time a heterosexual was discriminated against for being heterosexual or had fewer rights in the United States because of being heterosexual, of course!

Really, don't feed us the lines if you don't want us to bite.

Make it at least a little challenging and post something that takes more than a split second to mock into nonexistence.

Woods: Garcia's comments hurtful; time to move on

Garcia's words shocked me when I heard them on the radio yesterday. His apology was limp-wristed.

Bob Brewster has them on the shelf at Gaines School Animal Hospita, too. Around $45.

The Editor's Desk: Digital-era suggestion for religious conundrum

Sometimes following the Constitution is inconvenient. This is one of those times. We may have to sport the cost of bookshelves. I can live with it. I can think of worse things than asking adults to read in their leisure time.

Haha, you're so predictable and I've only "known" you for about 24 hours.
Sure. You're predictable as well. As soon as you get bested, you start in on ad hom. When you run out of rational positions, you attack people.

You can't "bless" anything if you're a real atheist. What would be the point?

Are you another one who is good at reading words that aren't there? Isn't that a lot of faith that you're correct? Try again. The words that aren't there aren't there for a reason.

Did I ever once give you any idea what I do or don't believe? No. Don't assume. That is where things go wrong.

Sort it out. What you're fighting is people who don't really care about you at all.

Poll: Georgians oppose campus guns
concernedpatriot - What a lie!!! That's what the media wants us to believe!!
Let's do better than this. For example, let's confirm that 502 voters are not a representative sample. Let's confirm that a 4% MOE isn't great, also not terrible. I've seen worse. Mostly, let's confirm that finding a conspiracy around every corner and calling Morris liberal is foolishness.

Power of Moore tornado dwarfs Hiroshima bomb
Millionexus -
I don't think Alex Jones is really liberal or conservative so much as he's...I don't even know how to describe him. Liberal and conservative are too close to the middle of the road, and the far far far right often resembles the far far far left in appearance.
I have to take your word for it. I'm certainly not all that interested in listening to it or trying to find out where I could listen to it. The reports are negative enough that I think it would be a waste of my time.

Power of Moore tornado dwarfs Hiroshima bomb
Millionexus - Alex Jones is actually speculating that the Obama administration used a weather weapon to cause this tornado, and the others that hit the general area.
Wow.

I had the misfortune of tuning my radio to the AFN news channel in time for some Limbaugh tripe the other day. I don't recall exactly what the topic was because I could only take it for five minutes or so, but I remember thinking what I thought when I read you post - Can people actually believe this crap?

Liberal radio didn't survive because it is commercially unviable. Russia Today picks up the crazy slack on that side.

Gov. Deal weighs in on bible belt dispute
THX1138 - Exactly. If you find it offensive or not to your beliefs no one is trying to force you to read it. Please find a real "cause" to get all up in arms about.

Yes, that goes for both of those books that get left places...and Watchtower or Quran or Stephen Covey or Tony Robbins or anything.

@davidxto: I gave that up as a matter of principle. At any rate, you must know you are important enough that nothing that could be said of you anonymously or non- could do much damage. The reason for my non-anonymity is that I am wasting no one's payroll nor am I asking for anyone's job or money. In this, the Germans have it right. Business is business and private is private.

I think, though, I am beginning to take a rather discordian view of the whole god or no god issue.

Rep. Regina Quick pulls no punches on Chamber scorecard

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

UPDATED: Draft language of so-called curfew ordinance

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.   Full text of the Use of Public Right-of-Ways ordinance draft is below. read more
