Summer shines and so do these 10 don't-miss shows

Really hate that Breaking Bad is almost over. This show has been the very best thing on TV for some time now. Kudos to Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul.

Ga. juvenile justice workers, supervisor suspended

I don't think there's a very big pool of competent individuals willing to put up with this bunch of worthless punks for any amount of money. Much less the salary they are currently being offered.

Selective enforcement at best. When's the last time you saw a report of an illegal being taken in for deportation.

Authorities capture Athens man who tried taking cop's gun

My first question would be, what in the world was the bond company thinking about? As I understand it the felon only puts up 10% and if he doesn't show up for trial the bondsman is out the rest. My boy Jamar doesn't sound like a good risk to me. But then what do I know?

The trouble with banning a book is that it makes so many people want to read it. I can remember when a "Banned in Boston" designation was a coveted distinction guaranteeing huge sales.

Sounds like some form of coordination going on. Too many incidents to be random. But just looking at it, it's hard to see the common thread.

Links to Banner-Herald's award-winning sports stories

The Athens Banner-Herald sports staff combined to win 11 individual awards on Sunday at the Georgia Sports Writers Association's annual meeting in Marietta. You can get a few more details on that in this story ? "Banner-Herald sports staff wins 11 awards" ? and I thought I'd provide some links to the winning stories for the curious. The awards were for the sports staff's work in 2012. read more

Going deep on Georgia's depth chart (and Harvey-Clemons' suspension impact)

It?s hard to make too much out of a depth chart put out just under three months before the season opener, but it?s the dog days of June so here are the takeaways I see from Georgia?s latest official pecking order outlined below:--John Theus remains outside the first five on the offensive line. Continued motivation for the summer workouts? Maybe. The rising sophomore is behind Xzavier Ward at right tackle. read more
