Do they have any filtered words? No, just say what you want.
Do they use the same name they used here? Some do, some don't.
Does anyone have you on an ignore list? No, we ignore one another the old fashioned way.
Has anyone been banned? No need to so far but there has been one that picked up their ball and went to play in a different park.
It's a decent group discussing current topics such as:
-Wars, mostly current
-Things found in @Ed Tants: hair

What gets me is the fact that many left Gwinnett, Rockdale and other area's, came to Oconee for the "quality of life" but now are content to make Oconee what they left?
Am I the only one here that can see this? Guess those of us who have been here all of our lives aren't supposed to have a say...sad.posted @ Friday, January 24, 2014 - 16:20

Maybe it was butthurt ABH employees?
Wait...I'm not supposed to be here.posted @ Thursday, January 23, 2014 - 14:19
Since this is my last free page view here I'd like to go out saying this...
I have no problem paying for the ABH as for years now I've enjoyed being able to express my opinion here. What I do have a problem with is-
The quality of the web page.
The fact Morris won't come off the hip to improve it.
Comments from employees & columnist of the ABH on their personal Facebook pages about people who post here.
The amount of hard core local news.
There is no need for anyone to group every person who has commented here in the past years as racist, bigoted, hateful, ignorant etc... There are plenty of people who have good reason to post under assumed names. Jobs, family, political reasons to keep your name out of the web are valid in my opinion. It seems to me I remember ABH opened the door and invited everyone to express their opinions. Now as some have expressed their hatred they have turned employees of the ABH into bitter people. Wish it wasn't this way but unless the price comes down to something in line with the quality I'm outta here.
To a few of you I wish you good luck in the future and may your endeavors be prosperous. The rest of you can [filtered word] off.
@melmarino: I'm still baffled by the "entitlement" he mentioned? Just can't recall ever saying I'm entitled to anything?posted @ Thursday, January 23, 2014 - 08:55

@EdwardLTant: Thanks for the shout out on your Facebook page! Funny though that at least two names on your page of cyber bashing of anonymous comments also post here under assumed names. One of those under multiple names which have been banned.
Enjoy your day.posted @ Wednesday, January 22, 2014 - 10:35

Great job ACCFD & ACCPD. Thanks to surrounding area volunteer firemen also.
@Joe Johnson: Mistakes or not you do a good job which I thank you for. Your point is taken but for me personally it's a quality issue for the price. Nothing personal but until that or the price changes I'll skip on the pay site.

Nope, I'm happy to let you stick around, Shoe, as long as you're abiding by the TOS. And I note that your reference to my Facebook page doesn't include the positive comments that I receive whenever I post items there about how I'm dealing with commenters who do violate the TOS.
Jim, I don't think it has to do with the comments to your post but the attitude of your post. Same goes here on AT. Your shotgun method hits home to those of us who have kept with the TOS...Haven't seen any mention of those people.posted @ Monday, January 20, 2014 - 15:47

It's never really run itself, KIS. We've always had some form of moderation. I guess we just misunderestimated the kind of commentary -- again, present company excepted -- we'd get from too many of the people who post here.
Jim, you know yourself that aside from Joel's attempts the place had been a free for all. It's understandable that you're giggling like a little girl with a new doll inside but this is something that could have been taken care of years ago. As is the ABH will lose some (more like a lot) of people who add interesting dialogue to the stories and articles.
New pay system or not until banning means more that creating a new account it'll be the same old ABH for quite some time. Personally I have a problem paying to use a website that fails often and has some of the slowest wait times ever experienced.posted @ Monday, January 20, 2014 - 11:38
Summary: Fun facts: The first-ever Oscar ceremony, held in 1929, ran a brisk 15 minutes. By contrast, the longest was in 2002, clocking in at a monstrous 4 hours and change. As usual, there are things I loved about it and things I didn't. Rather than be snarky or complain, I'll offer a few suggestions on how the organizers might bring the show into the 21st century. Athens-Clarke County police officers responded to Pinewood Estates North on a 911 call concerning a heated domestic dispute. it reportedly was an argument over the lack of heat and food in a family's trailer and a woman was threatening to stab anyone who tried to take away her 7-month-old child. State patrol responded also, from their post nearby on U.S. Highway 29 North. The situation apparently was resolved. An officer reported he was driving the woman and infant to another home in Athens. read more
