Roy Barnes trying to find a way to get Tyrone Brooks out of this jam reminds me of a Jimi Hendrix song:
There must be some kind of way out of here.
Said the joker to the thief.
A bridge on an interstate highway in Minneapolis collapsed a few years ago. And a bridge on an interstate highway in Arkansas or Oklahoma collapsed a few years ago killing a woman hauling horses. This is all part of our crumbling infrastructure.

One financial threat to family farms is the death tax. It is hard to pass the family farm along intact to your heirs when they have sell a chunk of it to pay the estate taxes.

posted @ Sunday, May 12, 2013 - 02:41Lots of completely false reporting by the news media in this case. Yesterday there were reports that a naked woman (or women) on a leash were seen crawling around the backyard of the house where they were found. Now it seems that never happened. Does the media verify anything before they report it any more?

Off Topic: Colorado does an awful lot of things right. Why in the world did you return to Georgia? What was it like living in Colorado and where did you live? If you don't mind my asking.

Colorado also does a lot of things wrong. I loved living there (Colorado Springs) but I returned due to family reasons (my father's health is declining plus his house burned in October and I am here to rebuild it and live in it once it is finished).

posted @ Tuesday, May 7, 2013 - 22:49Welcome to the 21st Century. I recently moved back to Georgia after living in Colorado for 23 years. Colorado was on the leading edge of homebrewing in the early '90s and that is when I learned to brew my own beer. I gave away a lot of beer and took plenty with me to parties and get-togethers. If I had done that in Georgia I probably would been committing a felony.

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.
