Now that she is retired, my mother is opening all those shoe boxes and placing the photos in albums in chronological order. It is taking a lot more time than she thought. The project is going well though. I looked through it last time I was in Macon.
My favorite pictures are the ones when my parents were first married before they had kids.

Ummmm... Second favorite past time
Oh yeah forgot. Stealing souls is your #1 favorite past time. #gingers
@grove600: P.S. What was insulting about my post? I read it twice and i don't see it. I just made a statement that lots of readers read articles and choose not to comment. I think you read into the statement because I added the smiley face. That was just for @Digdug: because I know he was just giving me a hard time.posted @ Thursday, April 10, 2014 - 18:13
@grove600: He knows I'm joking with him. @Digdug: likes to give me a hard time here and on Twitter. It's his favorite past time.posted @ Thursday, April 10, 2014 - 18:04
@Digdug: I never said "lots of traffic." I said that traffic has increased on the site.
There is no correlation between more comments and more traffic. Less than 1% of those who read OnlineAthens actually comment.
Not everyone has something to say like you.
@Digdug: It takes a lot more than 5 people to produce the traffic this site does. Nice try though.posted @ Thursday, April 10, 2014 - 17:21
Digdug - Web traffic = same user over and over and viewed as a unique visitor each time.
Actually, that's not true. Unique visitors are different from page view counts. What we look at is page view counts. Unique visitors are a factor for advertising but the web traffic I look at is actual page views.
grove600 - Traffic was not low due to a lack of content. It was low due to a lack of customers
OnlineAthens has plenty of customers but readers stopped coming to AthensTalks due to lack of content. Readers are returning but commentors are not. Just because we lack comments doesn't mean we lack web traffic.
@Digdug: I'm talking about AthensTalks traffic, not OnlineAthens. When I started working on the site again, the traffic was very low due to lack of content. With added content, people are reading. AthensTalks is on a different server than OnlineAthens.posted @ Thursday, April 10, 2014 - 12:46
@Digdug: People are reading the posts but not commenting. Traffic is up on the site but no one wants to comment. Honestly, commenting on articles on the internet as a whole is down. I think people are spending most of their engagement time on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook and less on news sites.posted @ Thursday, April 10, 2014 - 11:37
@nowheregirl: LOL I am still working as an independent contractor for the paper. They asked me to help out with the business section since they are between business reporters right now. You will see my byline on business stories here and there for a while.
nowheregirl - You done snuck in the back door, didn't ya? Huh?
I am very disturbed by this though....
jtsim - Maybe we could spice it up a bit with something about gay bible thumping animals stealing food from gun toting baseball fans
I will record your suggestions.posted @ Sunday, March 30, 2014 - 22:18

Summary: Fun facts: The first-ever Oscar ceremony, held in 1929, ran a brisk 15 minutes. By contrast, the longest was in 2002, clocking in at a monstrous 4 hours and change. As usual, there are things I loved about it and things I didn't. Rather than be snarky or complain, I'll offer a few suggestions on how the organizers might bring the show into the 21st century. Athens-Clarke County police officers responded to Pinewood Estates North on a 911 call concerning a heated domestic dispute. it reportedly was an argument over the lack of heat and food in a family's trailer and a woman was threatening to stab anyone who tried to take away her 7-month-old child. State patrol responded also, from their post nearby on U.S. Highway 29 North. The situation apparently was resolved. An officer reported he was driving the woman and infant to another home in Athens. read more
