I've got to agree. I love the smell of bacon but I love the taste more. I don't need a phone app teasing me.posted @ Thursday, March 6, 2014 - 15:48
I had better things to watch. Reruns of Gilligan's Island until Walking Dead came on.
I'll admit I turned away to watch The Walking Dead, too. That show is addictive.posted @ Monday, March 3, 2014 - 19:44
grove600 - A lot of folks aren't going to pay to play.
I understand. Maybe everyone will realize there is some value to the site and return at some point. We pay for services everyday. We have just been so used to not paying for news that a lot of us don't realize there is value in information and news. It will take some time but I feel many readers will return once they realize that the value does exist.
I also understand that since OnlineAthens switched over, the amount of people on the site increased, not decreased.
@PatrickD: LOL It might be kind of hard since I no longer live in Jacksonville. I am in Macon.posted @ Monday, February 17, 2014 - 14:17
@grove600: No one is paying me to be here. I chose to post on here because I felt bad that the site looked so empty. This is a user-generated site so it is up to those who use it to add content and invite who we want to be here. I didn't have a lot of time when I worked for the company to add much to it myself. I now have some time and thought maybe we can find some way to reinvent this site without the help of the company. There is no reason this can't be a place people in the community can go and have a place to engage with each other.
I'm willing to give it a try. Are you?
@Digdug: I have no idea. I believe that program ended when I left. I was the intern manager and I don't think they had anyone available to manage the program.posted @ Monday, February 17, 2014 - 12:47

Summary: Fun facts: The first-ever Oscar ceremony, held in 1929, ran a brisk 15 minutes. By contrast, the longest was in 2002, clocking in at a monstrous 4 hours and change. As usual, there are things I loved about it and things I didn't. Rather than be snarky or complain, I'll offer a few suggestions on how the organizers might bring the show into the 21st century. Athens-Clarke County police officers responded to Pinewood Estates North on a 911 call concerning a heated domestic dispute. it reportedly was an argument over the lack of heat and food in a family's trailer and a woman was threatening to stab anyone who tried to take away her 7-month-old child. State patrol responded also, from their post nearby on U.S. Highway 29 North. The situation apparently was resolved. An officer reported he was driving the woman and infant to another home in Athens. read more
