Clown. C-L-O-W-N. Pay attention to your spell checker, it's there for a reason.
Mr Lightborn - showed veteran John Kerry the same amount of respect...
Sure did. Until he made a media circus of throwing his medals and citations away and went on to getting himself arrested for trespassing.

West challenges GOP to 'be bold' in its appeal to minorities
Mr Lightborn - "West was criminally charged with violating the Uniform Code of Military Justice, found guilty of three counts of aggravated assault and relieved of his command.
Best part of the article:
"What kind of man who has never worn the uniform attacks an honorably discharged combat veteran for acting to protect the lives of his soldiers?" Edson said in a statement to The Huffington Post. "A desperate man and apparently the same kind of man who calls a decorated combat veteran a coward, gets into drunken bar fights, verbally assaults police officers and then uses his family's connections to get out of trouble. Patrick Murphy is a spoiled brat and a truly terrible person."

Republicans cite scandals to slam Obama in day one of GOP convention in Athens
HankRearden - Remember when Bush did it? (neither do I)
I remember when Clinton did it. To someone I knew. Doesn't look like Hussein has a Monica to run in interference, but don't be surprised at whatever he might come up with.

Something I've not seen anyone mention; the whole Nixon business began with Spiro Agnew very vocally attacking the mainstream media. They wrecked him quick, then kept circling the scent of blood. Didn't take them long to start biting either. I don't believe history will repeat itself, but it bears consideration.

Balloon launched into space by Athens pupils recovered in Sparta

Really neat hands-on learning experience. The University used to send up weather balloons regularly. Every now and we'd find one in the cow pasture and call the extension office to come and get it. Great experience talking to the guys about the information collected and how they would use it.

I don't know what Iraq wmds have to do with summer vacation, but I wonder if you're talking about the ones that "Chemical Ali" mixed up to kill all those Kurdish civilians and Iranian soldiers? Tell your trash to someone who wasn't stuck in the middle of it.
tdurden - Hatred and down right treasonous actions towards the President and this country.
Okay little big mouth. Treason is a very serious allegation, especially since the Boston bombings. Who do you suspect of having engaged in treasonous activity? There's an FBI office right over on Hancock. Have you gone and discussed your suspicions with them? Perhaps you should.

Rep. Regina Quick pulls no punches on Chamber scorecard

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

UPDATED: Draft language of so-called curfew ordinance

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.   Full text of the Use of Public Right-of-Ways ordinance draft is below. read more
