Not knowing too much but basing this off the picture, I bet I know exactly what happened:
Bus was coming off the Inner Loop toward North Ave heading downtown. Bus thought it had a merge lane. Oops!! Yield sign. Oops! Car in the lane it wanted. Bang! Crash.
This happens more times than I care to admit. It's safer to drive in the left lane than to risk the speeders blowing off the Yield sign.posted @ Monday, October 20, 2014 - 10:06

[filtered word] and moan all you want, but that stretch of road from Gaines School to the redlight by Firehouse and Keba is another accident waiting to happen. Not a day goes by I see someone heading towards Gaines School sneak around and drive the wrong way down the turning lane to get in line to turn left.
Heck, I've seen school buses run the lights. Wonder if they will get the tickets? School time will be the best time.
Here are the solutions:
1- park a cop there and give out so many tickets, it ends, only to have it come up again and then have another cop sit there. Rinse and repeat.
2- ban left turns into the curb cut to Firehouse from Barnett (and also ban right turns out of it) and have everyone turn left into the road leading to Publix (or right, as the case may be)
3- not do anything and watch the demolition derby commence.
I've a feeling #3 will win.posted @ Friday, June 13, 2014 - 14:24
crankyyankee - To grade their education level I would like to see a copy of the note.
According to the AJC,
On Tuesday, a student found the words “Thursday there will be no more Gainesville High School. And I’m going to bring my gun! And kill everyone!” written on a boys bathroom wall, authorities said.
“The second one said ‘we have explosives and will blow this place up,’” Dyer said.
All told, I'd give an 80. Spelled there correctly, but the starting of a sentence with And (twice!) sorta killed any chance of an A.
Second sentence: No first word capital and no period. I say 75- those are kindergarten errors.posted @ Thursday, December 5, 2013 - 09:42

Classifications have always been based on enrollment, that's why classifications exist. Given the equal enrollment, I don't know the reason for putting CS and Clarke Central in different classes.
Maybe because GHSA set the bar at 1450? CS can ask to play up if they want. If they're smart, they'll take the dorp and add CC as a non-region game. Lose and it's no harm no foul in region play.posted @ Wednesday, November 13, 2013 - 16:25
How can Athens petition for an 842 area code? 842 is U-G-A on the key pad. Knoxville got 865, which is V-O-L.

So since there was a tragedy in Boston they deserve to win? That is ridiculous. Reminds me of the Super Bowl right after 9/11. The Patriots vs. The Eagles. Two symbols of American freedom so that no matter who wins America wins. What a joke.

Wrap your brain around what? They are tunneling under the current roadway of the loop. The loop will be a bridge and Olympic / Peter will go underneath it.
Okra...go fry yourself.
Thanks MPD! I heard originally they would bridge Olympic OVER the loop and that layout didn't jive with the terrain. This makes more sense. Either way, it'll be better than what we had.posted @ Monday, October 14, 2013 - 10:07
Summary: I'm not saying it's lonely to be a movie critic, but we often find ourselves seated alone in an empty theatre when we're watching new stuff. I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself.
