"Before the park can move forward in development, the county must conclude how much land on the Barber Street site it owns."
That's a curious statement. The county says that they own 2.3 acres. Why is there any question?

I guess it's one thing to build it but then upkeep has to come in. People in charge would rather spend money on pet projects

God bless the teachers.
The problem is who's teaching them at home? Let's test them. If they fail, spay and neuter.

Ok here is someone who has identified the problem and not just another fix aimed at the school and teachers. Also why do we put so much faith in "administrators".. After spending some years in the classroom it was my view they were the people who really could not cut it in the classroom and had the CASH to buy a administrative degree. Maybe leadership quality is lacking there in addition to hammering the teachers. Oh by the way you do not need smarts to get a doctorate in education. All you need is cash and the ability to stick with it.... Oh and attending the right school helps. Some hand degrees out like suckers at a kindergarten party.

i'm w/thx1138. there's too much that doesn't add up about the whole boston bombing....here come the haters
[/quote]
Actually everything does pretty much add up. 2 individuals built a couple pressure cooker bombs and popped em off. There may be more implicated but that is the long and short. Conspiracy theories always come out and by every measure they are a stretch. Now if you wish to talk about John Kennedy, MLK and Bobby all getting zapped after being a huge part of the civil rights movement you might have something there. That was some strange lightening to hit the same place 3 times. That does not add up as you put it

Republicans might take comfort in results showing conservative Georgia Sen. Johnny Isakson has a 50 percent approval rating.
The latest (May 17-18) CNN/ORC International Poll shows Obama with a 53% job approval rating. The previous poll conducted in early April showed him with a 51% approval rating.

lets take an Obama poll on this forum and see where he rates

Yep, Deal should have seen this coming. Best thing to do is to pull the Bibles and return them to the Gideons. Next week someone will be wanting to drop off some kinda witchcraft pamphlets.
Still wonder why anyone would look in those drawers anyways....it's a park for Christ sake..get out and enjoy what God made.

When finished basic and was getting ready to ship off to Nam someone came to the barracks and dropped off a load of little red bibles from the Gideons. Carried it through 2 tours in swampland. Did it help??? Don't know, but it helped me. No one has the right to tell anyone that reading and believing in the Bible is wrong. nor do they have the right to dictate where it's done and by who. You an atheist don't read it. You would be hard pressed to find someone who gives a sit less than me

Truth be told I have had little respect for the last 2 presidents and not a whole lot more for the ones preceding them. Somewhere along the line Washington has quit being " For the people, by the people"..Politics favor the rich at the favor of screwing the middle class. Obama's promise of hope and change was hollow when it was made. Only reason he became president was the claim that he could fix the disaster that Bush allowed to take place. Bottom line is the only people who will pay the bills to get the country back on it's feet are the middle class. Very sad but unfortunately what we have now will not go away and along with it a new normal for the middle class. The rich will continue to get richer

There is a lot going on in the world of pop culture these days and I?ve been so busy that I haven?t had much time to write about it. So how about we catch up? ?Arrested Development? is back! I admit, I was not a fan of this show while it was on network TV, but I watched it a year ago on Netflix and was hooked. read more

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more
