Yes. Now if only the fed govt would do its job and recognize each state's marriage rules as it has done for 200+ years the fight would be over.

Dumb stories...???

Yes. Dumb made up paranoia spun into global catastrophe.
Georgia is in a persistent statevof economic inertia with 85 bank failures--more than ANY other state--with a public education system in free fall and what do you red neck in breds whine about? Whatever Rush and Faux news tell you is the latest bogey man under your bed.
Take off your tin foil helmet Jethro and look around. You are being slowly run into the ground economically by your state GOP but you are too busy paying attention to a carnival side show.
Wake up Bubba you are being played.

Name the scandal. Name one legit scandal the Obama admin has had to deal with. No Iran contra or whitewater. Nada.

I will back ANY candidate D R or Tea Bagger who has the balls to say cap social welfare benefits including welfare, food stamps, public housing, WIC, Medicaid, and anything else that is a freebie. Cap it at X dollars or X years.

Slavery. Jim Crow. Separate but equal. Red scare. Great Depression. Medicare (govt run health ins). And we're still here. Don't think there is anything truly different today than ever before. We just like to have bogey men to poke pitch forks at while we rend our clothes and wail poor poor me.

These are both lame-o scandals, one based on stupidity (IRS) and one based on absolutely nothing but thin air (Benghazi). But the GOP has accomplished nothing else so they may as well remain consistent with these dumb "stories" as well.

What this is about is trying to trash Hillary in the run up to 2016 and nothing more. Too bad the GOP shot their wad to early--prematurely one might say...
Politics isn't a game for sissies, but it is still just a game.
Where is the outrage for the 100,000 innocent Iraqi citizens killed in Bush's war? Or don't they matter?
posted @ Monday, May 13, 2013 - 15:32I am of two minds about this.
One part of me says that the simply appearance of partisanship by the IRS shows how stupid this investigation was. Only a group of gummint employees would do something that even if the intention was harmless, looks so bad that it can only be their own stupidity that prompted them.
On the other hand it is likely, as with Katrina or Sandy that there were too phony BS Tea Partier groups out there scamming and taking money and spending money for illegal purposes which warranted higher scrutiny--especially given the election year fervor.
So I come down to, poor management at IRS, indeed, but reasonable investigation.

You have several errors in your comments above which I decline to enumerate.
If you believe corporate welfare is a good thing for companies that make trillions in profits POST TAXES, then you are no fiscal conservative and must be thrilled that Hillary is going to run in 2016.
I wish you well in your fiscal swamp.

The govt puts all types of mandates on all types of businesses. So what? Oil companies inspite of the regs make TRILLIONS in profits. There is ZERO reason taxpayers need to add to their profits.
TeeWee - The energy companies cannot pump the raw product they discovered,
This is publicly owned oil on publicly owned land. The govt certainly can oil companies they can't drill there and there is zero reason to pay them tax dollars for the denial.
That is like your city government telling you you can't build your house in the Town Park and then paying you for not letting you build your house there. That is absurd.
Lobbyists have sold you a bucket of BS and convinced you it is roses. You are being lied to. Wake up.

Actually people are leaving bonds (me too) because we are avoiding the impending interest rate rise that is coming. I am not what the wealthy call wealthy but anyone who didn't buy stocks in the Fall of 2008 and reaping the rewards of that crash today is an idiot. My stock portfolio is very happy and so is my real estate investments.

There is zero stopping a Christian from getting whatever he/she believes is salvation. That is a personal internal thing that no one can make illegal.
What you can't do in America is make those who don't believe what you do kowtow to your beliefs and make them live their lives by your beliefs. That is un-American. If you want to live under religious law then perhaps Iran or Iraq are more your speed.

Clearly you have been ignoring all the information about unemployment and exactly who are these persistent unemployed.
Perhaps if you spent more time reading up on the data and less whining and bitching about the White House you would be more educated.
It is those with no HS diploma or ONLY a HS diploma who are most effected by unemployment because they lack the skills needed for high tech jobs today.
Google companies looking to hire and their inability to get skilled workers, and become educated.
Then also look at the voting record of the GOP and how they have voted en block against anything promoted by the WH or Dems to kick start the economy--motivated SOLELY by politics--still voting GOP are you even tho they are working overtime to wreck the US economy???
Oh and finally, tax cuts stimulate the economy, no? Isn't that what Scumbag Eric Cantor and Bonehead Boehner have repeated ad nauseum?
So then where the [filtered word] are the tax cuts here in GA?? Why hasn't the GOP controlled GA govt cut taxes??? Hmmm??? Add to it neither MS, AL, or SC have cut their state income taxes either. Hmmmm???
Seeing the trend here genius?? So keep voting GOP and keep voting against your best interest and keep whining about Barry in the WH.
Grow up.

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.
