House votes to derail Obamacare, fund government

Keep flaming on a little Podunk newspaper web site. You are talking to yourselves in an echo chamber.

If you actually had any balls and actually wanted to work for change you certainly wouldn't be here.

All you all want to do is whine--old white men flailing at windmills.

You are as flaccid as a 90 year old man with no Viagra.

Feds unveil premium prices for Obamacare coverage

To all the negative commenters--I suppose you are working diligently with your elected leaders to iron out your perceived problems, or get additional information to understand the facts?

Or, are you just blathering on a small local newspaper web site and doing nothing to improve anything?

12 killed in Washington Navy Yard shooting
puremutt - It is different to go out in public and have to remember my training. Sucks not the USA of the 80's
Actually DC in the 1980s and 1990s was the murder capital of the US.

It has always been a violent place.

Apparently you haven't been paying attention. He did. Putin now owns the mess in Syria.

Score one more win for Obama.

Despite pressure, ban on gay blood donors endures

If the blood testing processes haven't improved in nearly 30 years then the blood supply isn't safe.

That should be the headline.

What about married gay couples? Why are they are risk and straight married couples not a risk? This is just stupid.

Broun blasts Obamacare, meets resistance with area man

So what if Broun doesn't like Obamacare--he's just whining.

If he was a real man, and had any brains, he'd have put together a viable alternative to Obamacare.

Talk's cheap Paul.

And stop feeding at the public teet and give up your taxpayer funded health insurance and salary you lying jackass.

Pretty obvious to almost everyone that is never going to happen.

@D.Dublis: Bingo. Expand the pool of consumers to spread the costs out and make the deadbeats buy insurance rather than use the Emergency Room as their primary provider.

'Obamacare' employer mandate delayed
TeeWee - one wonders how a President can delay the implementation of an Act of Comgress
You can probably just call the White House or your congressional rep or senator and get your answer.

'Obamacare' employer mandate delayed

@friendlyfire: I got a rebate on my 2012 health insurance from my provider and a 10% cut in annual premiums for 2013 thanks to controls put in place by Obamacare.

And of course medicare for you should be cut. Medicare is 1/3 of the negative drain and cause of the federal deficit.

What do you think all the GOP is clamoring for? Aren't you listening? Gut the fed govt. Reduce spending. Well Medicare Social Security and Defense are where all the deficit spending is.

Why are you complaining? You want to cut spending but still get your free ride! Typical! You are part of the problem!

And save your breath on how you paid for it--how much have you paid in to Medicare?--I can tell you--mere pennies on the dollars you will take out--YOU SIR ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!

'Obamacare' employer mandate delayed
Used2baFreeCountry - Two schools of thought regarding the Obamacare monstrosity.
1. Good intentions gone awry. Obamacare is a typical liberal boondoggle in which we are supposed to judge them according to their good intentions rather than the adverse unintended consequences.
2. Bad intentions going according to plan. Sly liberals designed Obamacare from the first to fail, so that they could then put forth 100% government-run health care as the solution to the problem that they themselves created in the first place.
Now if liberals can just convince establishment republicans to "walk across the aisle" and "compromise" by working with them to pass legislation to fix Obamacare, they will be in a position to sucker-punch them by crowing that republicans are now equally responsible for the Obamacare fiasco.
And the sad thing is the liberals would get away with it, because establishment republicans show themselves to be suckers over and over again.
What you say may be true--neither of us know for a fact. So where is the alternative to Obamacare? Where is the "replace" in repeal and replace?

Wouldn't you think the GOP would win in a landslide if they said here America--Obama's plan was a dud and here is REAL solution. We've had 100 years of people saying this is needed. If not Obamacare, then what??

'Obamacare' employer mandate delayed

@McCarthy: Obama certainly has his flaws, but you are saying McCain/Palin or Romney/Ryan would actually have done better?? Please. Train wreck x4.

We get a choice of two. If the GOP would actually nominate a REAL fiscal conservative we might see some improvement. Sometimes you hold your nose and vote for the lessor of the two stinkers.

Another example of liberal judicial activism and trampling on the freedom of religion in America. God's law supercedes man's law.

Chick-fil-A president deletes gay marriage remark

@snarkydude: Your simplistic reasoning and understanding as well and your wholesale lack of comprehension of the details and intricacies of the programs you denounce are emblematic of those who can only twist lies and half-truths into hollow blatherings.

I am no more going to debate you here than I would any other person anywhere who while demonstrably able to use the internet and various media will only read and listen for thoughts and ideas that only suit your own narrow thoughts and reverberate in your echo chamber. Pity.

If you proactively chose to draw such narrow conclusions and refuse to neither enlighten yourself, nor acknowledge the culpability of others with whom you are clearly aligned, then you are doomed to your sad foaming-at-the-mouth existence.

I'm too smart for you. Please find someone else with whom to share your Kool-Aid.

Chick-fil-A president deletes gay marriage remark
hang em high - @fred astaire: you're right to an extent...but the government shouldn't be sticking its nose in any of this kind of thing to begin with. Especially the fed. government. It makes a little more sense for the states to do something...but still not much. The government is way too big and needs a power check.
You are referring to Feds involvement in marriage? Well they are 1049 rights and obligations deep into marriage. Now the gays have equal access to those 1049. If you want to talk about getting feds out of marriage that is a whole separate discussion.

Chick-fil-A president deletes gay marriage remark
snarkydude - @fred astaire: none, unfortunately, but that does not alter the fact that the Democrats buy votes with welfare programs. Which people vote for Republicans based on government handouts? Big business will vote for the GOP because of favorable policies, but the leeches will vote Democratic until the cows come home. They aren't smart enough to realize they're in economic slavery.
Sorry but your broad brush generalization of evil Dems and Holy Repub undercuts any validity in your statement.

    Blog: Watching movies by myself

Summary:  I'm not saying it's lonely to be a movie critic, but we often find ourselves seated alone in an empty theatre when we're watching new stuff. I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself. No cartoons on racism

As you might imagine, the vast majority of the editorial cartoons available these days for publication through the syndicate which supplies cartoons to the Athens Banner-Herald/OnlineAthens are addressing the situation in Ferguson, Mo., where the fatal shooting of a black teen by a white police officer has touched off a number of demonstrations -- some peaceful, but many not at all peaceful, with tear gas fired by police officers and gunshots fired by some protester. read more
