Georgia Dems want to boost min. wage, education spending

All of my life, there has been "we need to increase education spending". Why then does GA always at the bottom of the quality education list ???

The minimum wage was established for entry level jobs & was never intended to be a "living wage". When the min wage is increased, the unions will petition for higher wages to compensate for the difference in income. Restaurants, hotels, dept stores etc will pass along their increased cost to the patrons.

I am still waiting for the "laser-like focus on jobs"................."Just words, just speeches".............

The King and Prince Hotel on St. Simons Island

The views of the ocean were stunning with the waves so close you could almost jump in from the balcony.

The waves are that close due to the constant dredging of the shipping channel. There is no beach from the pier to the K&P at high tide only Johnson rocks installed ofter hurricane Dora. The water is great if you like brown muddy saltwater. I choose to spend my time on the ocean 29-80 miles offshore where the water is green to blue & less people, only fish...............

Study: Tobacco control has saved millions of lives

This makes no sense. Tobacco bad, weed good ??? The biggest difference is the additives that are added to tobacco. Weed has many chemicals in it that occur naturally that are inhaled, so what's the difference ???? One can smoke weed & not get heart disease, cancer, lung ailments and stroke — all often linked with smoking — are the nation's top four leading causes of death ???

By the way, I am pro-weed.

Global climate change brings big public health challenges, CDC scientist says

If you wish to believe, that's your right. Humans only have a few clues to the past climates & even less written records. How long was the earth created & how many changes have occurred since the earths creation ?????

Believe what you wish but stay out of my wallet & allow people to live their lives the way they want.

I predict a major speech this week from #44 extolling the evils of coal due to the WV event.

Blog: Can we please fix the Oscars?

Summary:  Fun facts: The first-ever Oscar ceremony, held in 1929, ran a brisk 15 minutes. By contrast, the longest was in 2002, clocking in at a monstrous 4 hours and change. As usual, there are things I loved about it and things I didn't. Rather than be snarky or complain, I'll offer a few suggestions on how the organizers might bring the show into the 21st century. Winter storm drama

Athens-Clarke County police officers responded to Pinewood Estates North on a 911 call concerning a heated domestic dispute. it reportedly was an argument over the lack of heat and food in a family's trailer and a woman was threatening to stab anyone who tried to take away her 7-month-old child. State patrol responded also, from their post nearby on U.S. Highway 29 North. The situation apparently was resolved. An officer reported he was driving the woman and infant to another home in Athens. read more
