"The problem is, of course, that most slaves do not recognize their bondage. Most believe they are free because, in fact, as workers, they have the freedom to move from one slave master to the next. Many find the idea of slavery too frightening to really understand. Many wish to climb the slavery ladder to achieve a higher status as slave, that is, a position of greater power and wealth. So two conditions must occur before we can consider the road to freedom: The first is to recognize our slavery. The second is a desire to be free of it."--Gerry Spenceposted @ Sunday, October 27, 2013 - 13:00
"Is it true or false that when you sit on a jury, you may vote on the verdict according to your own conscience? "True," you say, but then why do most judges tell you that you may consider "only the facts" and that you are not to let your conscience, opinion of the law, or the motives of the defendant affect your decision?"
"In a trial by jury, the judge’s job is to referee the trial and provide neutral legal advice to the jury, beginning with a full and truthful explanation of a juror’s rights and responsibilities."
"But judges rarely "fully inform" jurors of their rights, especially their power to judge the law itself and to vote on the verdict according to conscience. Instead, they end up assisting the prosecution by dismissing any prospective juror who will admit to knowing about this right, starting with anyone who also admits having qualms with any specific law."--By Russ Emal

If I was Webb, I'd ask for jury trial and go for nullification!
Let the jury decide if "That which is necessary is legal"
Thank you for bringing up jury nullification.
Sadly, most AmeriKans do not know or understand about jury nullification and they think that it is illegal.
I do not know what role facts, evidence, or a desire to know the truth any longer play in American lives.
The vast majority of people believe what they want to believe. Facts and evidence have little to do with it.
People believe what serves their hopes and self-interests as they perceive their interests (often incorrectly) and what validates their emotional commitments.
A select few can think independently, but their voices are usually drowned out.

Jury Nullification Why you should know what it is
"The last stand against tyranny can take place in the jury box. The legislative branch may pass unconstitutional laws and the judiciary branch may uphold them. However, the individual citizen has the last say in the jury box. Learn your rights as a juror. Most likely, you will not be told about them in the courtroom."--by
"Did you know that jurors are allowed to follow their
consciences, even if that means that the final decision does not
follow the law or the judge’s instructions?
A jury’s right to nullify is something that is not taught in our schools. In fact, most citizens are unaware of this power."---by DONNA GUNDLE-KRIEG, April 1, 2013
