Rained-out Athens Human Rights Festival rescheduled for Saturday

This is an Athens tradition and the oldest annual human rights festival in the USA. Athens should be proud to host this positive, family oriented event every year. Everyone is welcome and given a chance to speak out on whatever they feel needs to be heard by their community. Awesome people, good music, great speakers and all volunteer with no corporate sponsorship. The weather is going to be beautiful so there's no excuse to miss out!

Canton woman arrested in father's strangulation death

@Yellow Dog: That might be the case if the man had died the day before, but apparently he was dead for a while before the situation was discovered by authorities. Keeping a dead person in the house is not normal behavior for anyone.

I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself. No cartoons on racism

As you might imagine, the vast majority of the editorial cartoons available these days for publication through the syndicate which supplies cartoons to the Athens Banner-Herald/OnlineAthens are addressing the situation in Ferguson, Mo., where the fatal shooting of a black teen by a white police officer has touched off a number of demonstrations -- some peaceful, but many not at all peaceful, with tear gas fired by police officers and gunshots fired by some protester. read more
