@E.J.: I was fortunate to spend this past weekend with Hannah Baird and her parents. I guessed that's who superman was talking about before you confirmed it. What an amazing young woman with an incredible spirit and a heart of gold
Go Carl!!

Hence 'the crickets'.
Good luck to Philip Brown. What a gem.

posted @ Sunday, April 17, 2011 - 10:14I wish I could say I can't believe how inappropriate the title of this article is, but this is the ABH--home of the misleading headline. I don't even have to explain it. Someone above already has, and ABH already KNOWS. Shame.
posted @ Wednesday, March 23, 2011 - 07:40If North Oconee isn't happy with Philip Brown, please send him over to OCHS! Brown is the best kind of administrator--I can't speak for the teachers, but as a parent I have been so happy at OCMS. Students genuinely like, trust and respect Mr. Brown, and he does a wonderful job of listening to new ideas and supporting everyone involved at the school. North Oconee, you are truly fortunate in this situation.
posted @ Tuesday, February 22, 2011 - 08:26Regarding icu2jj--I think it's hilarious he ends his initial rant for football/basketball facilities with a baseball metaphor
I'm willing to bet there are millions of Asian-Americans that are not that thin skinned and wish people like "second-class citizen" Lee would stop speaking for them.
posted @ Saturday, January 29, 2011 - 09:02Have to agree with some of the above--something changed. 5 points used to be top notch and it was a treat to eat there years ago when I lived in Athens. I was excited to see the new location in oconee open. I ate there one time and was so disappointed by the unappetizing sandwich I received I never went back.

posted @ Wednesday, December 15, 2010 - 11:45And the 'underwear' bomber boarded his plane overseas. Are we now requiring these same screening procedures of all passengers destined for the US? (that's a rhetorical question). Even if these new procedures had been in place last year they would not have stopped him. Tired of seeing that story used as justification for these measures.
posted @ Tuesday, November 23, 2010 - 08:50Still disappointed this isn't a DePalmas coming to oconee. Just looked at Dom's menu and I'm not impressed by selection or high prices.

posted @ Tuesday, September 14, 2010 - 08:11I couldn't agree more, Altaa5. Trumps catering of Athens had been doing a fabulous job for years. I believe they were forced to re-bid for the job when the athletic department decided to contract out management of the suites to an Atlanta management company.

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.
