I was thinking the same thing about the insoles. Aren't they inside the shoe?

In all seriousness, does transgender mean cross dressing?

The mayor was later overheard asking "What's texting?"

We used to have a Harris Teeter's where TJ Maxx is now. It would be interesting to see if they could compete better in Athens now.

Mmmmm Greek cups.

Shut your damn mouth, kid. That grandmama is the only person who cares about you right now apparently.

This is amazing that only roughly 1 out of every 5 kids in Athens can fully pay for a school lunch. How much does one cost? 2 bucks a day? We really need more low skilled, entry level jobs in this county like those Wal-Mart (gasp!!) and others offer to help alleviate our poverty situation. Raising my property taxes doesn't get it done.

Hahaha! Y'all can't fool me; it's really Peter Buck.

@Yellow Dog bite me. There's a big difference in a statue and a statute.

Since this has been ruled a tax, how can the president pick and choose what taxes to enforce and when to enforce them?

It has maintained its status as one of six military colleges in the country, and it has been at least 10 years since all non-commuting males had to be in the Corps, so UNG losing its military heritage doesn't make sense. In fact, the incoming cadet class is the biggest they have had. This REED initiative is about being more involved and in tune with the economic development of the region.

Burn 'em all. On a lighter note, I didn't know a statue could provide protection, but according to the article it can: "the Protection of Disabled Adults and Elderly Persons statue."

Actually, they are part of the new border patrol in the immigration bill.

Those folks laying in the grass in the renderings are the homeless.

So, this was the first place they looked to cut?

Note to Smithfield: I love pork and am available to promote your products.

    Blog: Watching movies by myself

Summary:  I'm not saying it's lonely to be a movie critic, but we often find ourselves seated alone in an empty theatre when we're watching new stuff. I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself. No cartoons on racism

As you might imagine, the vast majority of the editorial cartoons available these days for publication through the syndicate which supplies cartoons to the Athens Banner-Herald/OnlineAthens are addressing the situation in Ferguson, Mo., where the fatal shooting of a black teen by a white police officer has touched off a number of demonstrations -- some peaceful, but many not at all peaceful, with tear gas fired by police officers and gunshots fired by some protester. read more
