@grove600: If you go please take the Spotted photos with you. Every story that I open up to read has the Spotted photos popping up at the top. Even when there is a photo that goes with the story they are at the top of the page.posted @ Sunday, March 9, 2014 - 08:04

When I go shopping I see many people that overeat. Because I'm paying for it. It gives me a warm feeling knowing they can use their EBT card for a $4 piece of blueberry cheese cake.posted @ Sunday, March 9, 2014 - 07:47
With Justin Bieber's tattoos and a selfie locking down twitter being the top stories the future of our country is really looking bright.
Maybe somebody will come up with an app that will take care of the little things like high crime rates, our public school system, too many people on government assistance just to name a few.
I guess as long as we put our efforts behind abortion, gay marriage and taking God out of everything those other pesky things will go away on their own.posted @ Saturday, March 8, 2014 - 09:33

Back in the day I remember a poster that was scolded by Jim for reporting a bunch of comments. They were told to put the people on ignore and not just report comments that they didn't like. I guess things have changed.posted @ Friday, March 7, 2014 - 20:49
There are some things that people do that I will never understand. And for that I am thankful.posted @ Friday, March 7, 2014 - 20:36
I got a new computer a couple of weeks ago and it has windows 8 with a touch screen. There were all kinds of apps that I could download for free. I have yet to find one that I think would be more useful than hooters on a boar hog. I will add the bacon app to the list of dumb things that people will do.
I'm still getting used to the touch screen. The best thing is I can enlarge little bitty print. The worse thing is I keep touching the screen in places it doesn't want to be touched and I lose what I was reading.posted @ Thursday, March 6, 2014 - 22:40
If we give up we are admitting that lost to the almighty powers that be. Most of the people were knew and loved, or not, left on their own because they had to pay. I can't say that I blame them. I don't anything really new from what it used to be.
Some, like myself were banned for no good reason. If we give up we are pulling the plug for them. We don't need to do the dirty work for them.
Someone should buy these and start a shuttle service from downtown to Epps Bridge Rd so people can do their shopping. That new empty parking lot would be a good place for people to park and hop the bus.posted @ Thursday, March 6, 2014 - 07:22
I hope you're not looking forward to that but I am afraid you may be right. We are going to have a new crop of stupid voters so I'm sure she will get elected.posted @ Thursday, March 6, 2014 - 07:13
@grove600: When "management" quits maybe they aren't up to the task. We see it every day and not just here. Yes they built it and helped make it grow but it seems that they are ready to let it wither on the vine. I am glad that Joel is back but I would like to see more input from some of the staff at ABH. And I don't mean someone just looking for a lame reason to ban another of our posters.
The life may be gone but I do detect a faint pulse. With so many new members over the last few weeks I wonder why we see so few of them making comments. That's what I miss most about the news stories. Sometimes I would just read the comments because that was the best part.posted @ Wednesday, March 5, 2014 - 20:12

It ain't over till we say it's over! I say we stand and fight! Damn the ban hammer, full speed ahead! Our cousins too the easy way out and they won't be seeing me at any more family reunions.posted @ Wednesday, March 5, 2014 - 06:57

I'm surprised the comments weren't disabled for this one too.posted @ Tuesday, March 4, 2014 - 19:24
Yesterday comments were disabled on two news stories. I'm sure that broke Jim's heart. I bet he had his little ban hammer all shined up hoping to get rid of the rest of us. Too bad, maybe next time.posted @ Tuesday, March 4, 2014 - 07:13

I honestly don't know which is worser. People taking pictures of themselves to post on social media or the poor fools that crave to see them.posted @ Monday, March 3, 2014 - 19:52

They are often referred to as saltines. By Yankees. In the south they are always called soda crackers. A saltine just sounds a bit too uppity to eat with potted meat.posted @ Monday, March 3, 2014 - 07:39

Summary: Fun facts: The first-ever Oscar ceremony, held in 1929, ran a brisk 15 minutes. By contrast, the longest was in 2002, clocking in at a monstrous 4 hours and change. As usual, there are things I loved about it and things I didn't. Rather than be snarky or complain, I'll offer a few suggestions on how the organizers might bring the show into the 21st century. Athens-Clarke County police officers responded to Pinewood Estates North on a 911 call concerning a heated domestic dispute. it reportedly was an argument over the lack of heat and food in a family's trailer and a woman was threatening to stab anyone who tried to take away her 7-month-old child. State patrol responded also, from their post nearby on U.S. Highway 29 North. The situation apparently was resolved.
