posted @ Monday, March 11, 2013 - 19:41Ya'll sure are jumping to conclusions. Where in this article did it say they put the cable up for this particular rider? Where in this article did it state the property owners had set a trap for the rider? It stated it was put up to keep unauthorized vehicles off their property. Maybe they were using the cable as a makeshift gate..Maybe they were trying to keep people in cars/trucks off the property. Maybe it was at the entrance to the property right off of the highway, where a gate is normally placed .I have seen thousands of cables strung across entrances in place of a gate. Last time I checked, you could make any kind of gate you want on your own property. Maybe they can't afford a gate. I don't know and neither do you. I do feel for this young man and his family. May he rest in peace. But, maybe this was just a horrible accident. Maybe the young man did not realize that there was a cable across a road, being used as a "gate". Don't jump to conclusions when all you know is the little information published in a paper known for not stating all the facts.

posted @ Thursday, February 14, 2013 - 22:47First off, great job by the police for locating them so quickly. Second, anyone that thinks the school employees did a "good job" is out of their mind. These employees followed a kidnapper to her car, with the kidnap victim, and let her drive away. What a bunch of scared wimps. The lady had plenty of time before the police found them to hurt/kill this little girl. Doesnt matter if the kid was biologically hers. Plenty of parents kill their kids yearly for revenge on the parent with custody. Everyone from this school involved should be fired and replaced with qualified child educators and child guardians. After all, isnt that their jobs, to teach and watch out for the kids in their care? I hate the "suing" society that we have created, but in this case, I hope the parent with custody gets rich!

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.
