Actually guys, "tool" is the correct word in this case.
Wouldn't want the Governor to actually govern now, would we?

How about avoiding the expense of duplicating a function already being performed by another person. You must work for the gubbermint.

??? I thought the purpose of a local newspaper was to report on local news. In fact, in the old days, the ABH reporter would have reported this type of hearing held in their own backyard - or front yard based on where the courthouse is in relation to the news building - to the AP. Not the other way around.

Between this and the parking issue, in which Mr. Reddish wants to get permission to rule over downtown parking as he sees fit, I wonder why we have a Mayor and Commission at all....
[/quote]
It is a Manager lead form of government after all. By that very nature, we have a weak Mayor and Commission. They are really restricted to only set policy. The day to day operations are given to the Manager.

Wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that land prices are nearly double downtown than any other place now, would it?
My point is simply that nothing is "free" and if you think that your free parking space exists at McDonalds to grab your 99 cent double cheeseburger. Well, no one can help you there.
posted @ Tuesday, May 14, 2013 - 08:15@grove600: Hate to break it to you, but nothing in this life is free. The customer is paying for those "free" spaces through other indirect costs charged by the business either in their hourly rate for services or in the mark-up in retail prices.

Given the fact that the family immigrated here in 2002 and started practicing a more devote form of Muslim in 2008, you must mean Bush. So I agree completely.
I just wish I have as much moxy when I am 90.

My point is simply that every mode of travel has inherent dangers associated with it. A blanket statement that Curls was advocating is completely idiotic and your rush to her defense was questionable.

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.
