@Libralady: SEVERAL Oconee employees have already contacted PAGE. Oconee's way of thanking the teachers who already put in hours beyond what is expected, to produce the TOP test scores in the state, it to tell them they are expected to do things that no other system expects. Perhaps the OC super could take lessons for Clarke:
Employees won’t have to make up the three other days because “employees already work well beyond normal business hours,” according to an announcement from Clarke County Superintendent Philip Lanoue.posted @ Tuesday, February 25, 2014 - 12:24
ABH---very sad that you are going to require people to PAY to access your paper online.
Rumor is Oconee will be offering an online version of their paper which has increased dramatically and they will pick up the online customers you will be losing. The number of people that access your online paper has attracted the many adverisements---this will subside as you lose people.
Ridiculous to pay for an online look.posted @ Tuesday, February 11, 2014 - 09:41
@Dr Benway: Please, save it.
Jimmy botched everything from the rescue attempt to negotiations. Reagan let them know if elected President, Iran would be a parking lot. He won the election and Iran released our hostages.
Kind of like Jimmy Carter's response to the Iran hostage situation...posted @ Friday, January 31, 2014 - 13:39
The kids could miss 10 days and it wouldn't affected test scores. So much time is wasted in public schools. Ask the kids. They will tell you how many times they sit and do nothing. No need to panic over missing a few days of school.posted @ Tuesday, January 28, 2014 - 09:10

You voted for it, now enjoy it.
And you think this will motivate people to make more money? Earn more so the government and take more and waste more?
The wealthy will take their money, quit working, and go sit in the sand on some island. That will dry up the jobs and those that depend on them for their food stamps will wonder where all those evil rich people went.posted @ Thursday, January 23, 2014 - 08:31

@pinkears3: Let me answer your question. NO, they do not think that they are "all that". However, millions of Americans do. They just do what they do and it resonates with millions of Americans. Many of us are sick to death of the filthy, junk on tv. DD is a nice change from that.
Contrary to what the media tells you, there are more of us "religions, rednecks" out there than you "beautiful" people.posted @ Monday, January 20, 2014 - 10:40

We cant talk about someone's qualifications, or how someone hired a good man. We have to include what color the person is. Yet, all we hear is that we need equal rights---skin color doesn't matter.....
Texas and Penn state made great hires. I could care less if the guy is black, white, or purple.posted @ Saturday, January 18, 2014 - 08:44
No one has damaged the middle class more than the democratic party. Obama and his policies, if you want to call them that, have almost wiped out the middle class.posted @ Wednesday, January 15, 2014 - 14:58
OCHS needs a principal desperately. The school is struggling and it is because of a lack of leadership.posted @ Tuesday, January 14, 2014 - 10:51
Coach Fox has done an incredible job with no more talent than he has. The Dawgs compete most games--and there is no question we are out-athleted. Glad they got this win...it was a big one!posted @ Thursday, January 9, 2014 - 09:42

The middle class is getting hosed. Obama and his policies have almost killed an entire class of people--the middle class. Obama care is a complete disaster--as we all said it would be! Things are bad and only getting worse. But, ignorant Americans will not wake up.posted @ Saturday, January 4, 2014 - 09:25
This is just classic. Here are the "brightest" minds--the global warming experts on route to look at all of the damage caused by global warming and they are stuck in ICE! I love it!posted @ Tuesday, December 31, 2013 - 13:32
Normaltown yellow dog - I knew this artical would bring out the trolls who live to trash Obama. President Obama has been the best president in my lifetime. I just wish I could vote for him again. I am not kidding. Its the truth.
I would probably keep those sentiments to yourself....it really shows your ignorance. You can "like" the guy all you want, but if you do your homework you will see that he has done more damage to this country than any sitting president in history.posted @ Saturday, December 21, 2013 - 18:49
@Colonel McCheese: And this is where you are wrong...among other places.
This is about more than a TV show and it is obvious to me that you do not understand that. It is also sad to me that you do not believe there are people like the Robertsons or my family or many families that I know that do put their faith first and their family a close second. Millions of Americans relate to this family and their simple way of life.
I am sorry that you are so negative and that you have faith in nothing...That seems very depressing.posted @ Friday, December 20, 2013 - 14:19

Summary: Fun facts: The first-ever Oscar ceremony, held in 1929, ran a brisk 15 minutes. By contrast, the longest was in 2002, clocking in at a monstrous 4 hours and change. As usual, there are things I loved about it and things I didn't. Rather than be snarky or complain, I'll offer a few suggestions on how the organizers might bring the show into the 21st century. Athens-Clarke County police officers responded to Pinewood Estates North on a 911 call concerning a heated domestic dispute. it reportedly was an argument over the lack of heat and food in a family's trailer and a woman was threatening to stab anyone who tried to take away her 7-month-old child. State patrol responded also, from their post nearby on U.S. Highway 29 North. The situation apparently was resolved. An officer reported he was driving the woman and infant to another home in Athens. read more
