UGA's FERPA Policy helps crooks build a profile for a targeted student:

Directory Information (Public Information) is information contained in an education record of a student which would not generally be considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if disclosed. As per guidelines provided by the FERPA Compliance Office, UGA defines the following as Directory Information:

Student’s Name
Phone number(Drunk
Degrees and awards received
Participation in officially recognized activities and sports
Dates of attendance
Email address
Fields of study
Most recent educational institution attended
Height/weight of athletic team members
Employment title and contact information

Under the Georgia Open Records Act, UGA is required to release directory information as requested.

I think the Georgia Open Records Act needs to be modified to protect personal information of students!

I hate to see him get a criminal conviction for the bank's error. It should be a civil matter.

There is no defense they can possibly come up with to keep her out of jail. I hope they lock her up and throw away the key.

Someone help me understand just how far a walk this would be... From the Science Library to where she was found? Is it 3 or 4 miles, and with hills? Are sidewalks there?
She would have been walking in the dark. Strange!

I think it's time for ACC to exercise eminent domain and bulldoze slums like Tivoli!

What difference does it make if the trees are planted in rows or random?

Seems like we should focus on the basic 3 R's and get our graduation rates up before spending money on this program.

Strange how the USA society seems to be reverting to the untamed 19th century. No longer the civilized society we had 50 years ago. Guess that's progress. Sad.

Is the tree still alive?

The United States is always looking for cheap labor. Eventually the children of these illegals will be "educated out" of these type of jobs and we'll have to look elsewhere for people to take advantage of. I believe it is time to close the borders and eliminate anchor babies. Let the onion growers pay a living wage or figure a way to automate their harvest.

I was a patient of Dr Adams and I believe that he would not have forced himself on a female. My guess is that there developed an improper relationship which he must have ended and she may be seeking revenge. Hell has so fury as a woman scorned!

He has already been convicted in the court of public opinion. I'm glad I don't have to sit on a jury for this one!

@King Minos:
I believe nonprofits should pay this fee as well as property taxes. Perhaps a larger "homestead exemption" could be used to provide some relief, but otherwise they should be subject to all taxes and fees.

I don't think he has a Phd... I've never heard of someone with a Juris Doctorate being called "Dr"

Southeast Clarke county has become the destination for low income housing. There's plenty of run down rental units since the UGA students have been run off by the high crime rate. This area is well served by the bus system. So why not designate some of the downtown neighborhoods as historic and bring them back to their glory days. The Eastside is hopeless so let's just let it go.

Please be more specific. What did RBR do that was corrupt? What has his son done? No need to write a lengthy reply, simply list some things.

    Blog: Watching movies by myself

Summary:  I'm not saying it's lonely to be a movie critic, but we often find ourselves seated alone in an empty theatre when we're watching new stuff. I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself. No cartoons on racism

As you might imagine, the vast majority of the editorial cartoons available these days for publication through the syndicate which supplies cartoons to the Athens Banner-Herald/OnlineAthens are addressing the situation in Ferguson, Mo., where the fatal shooting of a black teen by a white police officer has touched off a number of demonstrations -- some peaceful, but many not at all peaceful, with tear gas fired by police officers and gunshots fired by some protester. read more
