I had a bear pass through my place. Thought my husband was crazy when he told me he found bear tracks. Nope! DNR said it was just passing though and won't stay longer than a week or two. Darn near hit the thing leaving out of the drive around 5 AM last week. It didn't stick around but I've got a great story and pics to back it up.posted @ Thursday, September 19, 2013 - 12:40
And the BOC wonders why they should spend money on Fire, Sheriff and EMTs. If this isn't a wake-up call, I don't know what is.

I don't know why people are so amazed at her standing by her man. She traded her soul for the life style. You chose that life style, you chose to allow you husband to do as he pleases and you stand by him.posted @ Thursday, July 25, 2013 - 08:06
Here is what I fear. I've seen these type developments where they have to have x number of subsides/market rate units. They ONLY have the minimum.
Now here is a scenario for you bobster.
A young person decides to serve in the military. While in the service he/she saves money for college as well as having the current GI bill.
When they get out of the service and are accepted into a university. They start looking for housing. Every place they go, they are told they don't qualify because they only work part time and attend school full time.
They are even denied a unit in the market rate/subsidies housing unit because the developer/owner only has to have the minimum and the wait list is years long.
True story. I had to co-sign for my son so he could have a place to live while working on his MBA. Those units are designed for people like him.
Yes, you will get the baby factories, the welfare queens, and the lazy a$$,
BUT you will also get those who have the same standards as you and I but just need a hand up.
There were a few who lived in Pauldoe who only needed a hand up. And you can't blame the children. Maybe living next to someone who has standards will raise theirs! It's happened.posted @ Thursday, July 25, 2013 - 06:26
@Rita Raines: I'm sure it wasn't intentional. India for all it's advancements (thanks to American jobs being sent there) is still a 3rd world country.posted @ Wednesday, July 17, 2013 - 06:29

A flood warning has be issued for the Mulberry and the Oconee right here in our area. So who really cares about the Big Creek in Alpharetta. Try listing the local rivers!posted @ Wednesday, July 3, 2013 - 06:06
My husband worked at the WTC. I was one of the lucky ones; I got to keep my husband but he lost MANY friends and co-workers. So I, more than most, have the right to hate the terrorist. I realize all terrorist are not Muslin and all Muslin are not terrorist.
Now that's out of the way. If they want to go on hungry strike let them. If they truly wanted to kill themselves, they could have by now, so this hunger strike is just a ploy.

@avenger: We are supporting her because she IS NOT a racist. So she used the N word a few decades ago IN A PRIVATE CONVERSATION WITH HER HUSBAND. She could have lied but being a honest person, she spoke the truth.posted @ Thursday, June 27, 2013 - 12:50
@Willow: Arguments support a case against her brother NOT her.
Boy if we had to pay for the sins of our sibs... how many of you would be sitting in jail?
Redeemed? Redeemed from what -- exactly?
From being honest and telling the truth? She could have easily said, no I have never used that word.
From being human and using it to describe an incident where she had a gun held to her head? Hell, I would have used it too, along with a few other choice words!
From being a successful female?

But these are the very jobs shipped off shore to India. IT jobs may be out there, BUT they are out there in India. My husband is in the IT field. 98% of the people he works with / supervises are in India.
So sorry but I had to chuckle when I read this article. These kids can only hope that by the time they are ready to enter the work force, America has wised up and started bring jobs (real jobs -- not retail, warehouse) back to America.posted @ Tuesday, June 25, 2013 - 10:56

Now for all the parents who let their children (some as young as 7/8) ride ATVs without helmets or on the street near my house -- PAY ATTENTION to this article!
Near my house they ride WITHOUT helmets on a major county road. I was behind a father with a child (who was maybe 4/5) on the back, riding down 124 in Jefferson yesterday -- NO HELMET, NO SEAT BELT, NO PROTECTION and doing about 40!posted @ Monday, June 24, 2013 - 06:09
Summary: I'm not saying it's lonely to be a movie critic, but we often find ourselves seated alone in an empty theatre when we're watching new stuff. I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself.
