Brother arrested in fatal Calif. stabbing of girl

My question is: Where the 2 children home alone? A 12 YO is not mature enough to be in charge of an 8 YO.

WOW can't imagine what went wrong.

7-month-old killed in street racing crash on I-20

Just because you produce the egg and hatch it doesn't mean you are a mother. That term should not be used here. I CAN think of a lot of other names that fit.

Gwinnett Braves hold fundraiser for Barrow County boy battling tumor

As a cancer survivor, I hope this little guy joins the club.

Now as far as Barrow County goes, I find it interesting that there are 2 papers in the county and neither felt this worthy of reporting! Sad!

Man stabs 4 people at church in Albuquerque

Well, good thing he wasn't in Georgia where he could have carried a gun to church. Think of the carnage he could have caused.

Prayers for the victims and their families

Didn't know they were a not for profit. Thought they were just groomers. Think I will stop by on my way home from work this afternoon and check them out.

S.C. authorities identify abandoned toddler

When you think of what other choices they could have made in regards to this child, leaving it on someone's door step was the right and proper choice. Don't get me wrong, I don't advocate dumping unwanted children but at least they had the presents of mind to drop her off where she could be easily/readily found.

Broun to host Barrow County Town Hall Meeting

@swhitney:

I'll give you that one. I DO live live in an area that is just full of GOB types and they all had their Broun signs out.

Broun to host Barrow County Town Hall Meeting
hardrocker - What a JOKE! Unfortunately, its on US. The rest of the country thinks, with good reason, that we are a bunch of uneducated rednecks! This guy ranks right up there with honey boo boo...
And yet he was re-elected. Fascinates me that people will [filtered word]/complain/moan/blog about their elected officials being incompetent and yet, they continue to re-elect them and wonder why things don't change!

Broun to host Barrow County Town Hall Meeting

Be interesting to see if he actually shows up. He sent one of his lackeys to all the forums when he was running for re-election because he had better things to do than "met and greet" his supporters.

fitit: Don't worry at least 1 of his haters will be there to protest!

Gainesville Symphony Orchestra to shut down

WOW -- didn't know Gainesville HAD a symphony orchestra. Maybe if they had done a better job of advertising it, more people would have supported it, rather than make that long drive into Atlanta!

Serenbe developer sees future in local agriculture

A farmers cooperative that shares equipment is the first step to bypassing the barriers young farmers face when first planting.

As a beginning female farmer, it's hard to get the old multi-generational farmers to take you serious. It's hard to get the USDA to take you serious.

So if Mr.Nygren can overcome that barrier, that would be awesome!

I love the idea of community gardens. It's amazing how much you can grown on 1/4 acre.

Obtaining visas proves challenging, even for skilled workers

@proftom: My Husband works for one of those high tech companies that hire from abroad. And you are 200% correct about them wanting cheap labor. I can't count the times, I've heard him say, you can hire 10 for the price of 1 American. He also complains about how they train them and then they jump ship and go work for someone else. It's still cheaper to train a foreign national and have them leave after a few months then it is to hire an American.

1 officer killed, 2 wounded near La. casino

Condolences to this officer and his family, friends and fellow officers. I know he will be missed. It's always hard to hear of a law enforcement officer being killed in the line of duty.

Yep, we don't need gun control. Just give all the crazies guns. Oh wait, we already do. With present and past family members, and friends in law enforcement, I want to see laws changed so crazies aren't as well armed or better armed than the cops!

Don't mind having a hand gun for protection or a rifle for hunting.

Documents show area bikers got caught up in FBI sting

And I thought the "biker" gangs in Georgia were just fat old men suffering from a mid life crisis! I kind-of still think that's the case, BUT when given the opportunity for some excitement, and a chance to dive further into the fantasy of being a young, bad ass, they took it.

Georgia monitoring methods to stop wrong-way drivers

@Southern Man: Was thinking the same thing. Grates to pop the tires if you go the wrong way on an exit ramp. In case of emergency when the police are directing people to use a ramp, the grates could be locked in the down position
