Hull woman sends money to Nigeria and Connecticut in check scam

How many times has this type of scam been in this paper / website so far this year ?

1st warning flag should have been the offering for $450 to clean a house in Athens. Really ?

2nd warning was the woman then contacted the person who placed the advertisement, and he convinced her the ad was legitimate.

She contacted him back - Dumb.

3rd warning flag was receiving a check for $2,600 and was told to cash it, send $462 by Western Union checks to a woman in Connecticut and $1,300 to a woman in Nigeria. Dumber.

Then she gets another he received another $2,600 check.

Was she that greedy or STUPID !

So she was on the tracks ! It's not like the train can swerve to miss or hit a SUV.

This law is intented for the slowpokes who drive 45 or less in the left lane in a 55+ area. It very obvious who they are - flash your lights or blow the horn and they still don't get over.

UPDATE: Chicken innards spill cleared, Jefferson Road fully re-opened

@mpd0.59: I doubt if there were any livers and gizzards in that spill as they're sold also - nothing wasted that can't be sold.

So what makes you think I'm a Yankee from my statement or any of my posts and I know 'bout fried livers - twisted, convoluted logic, huh ? Laughing out loud Those are fighting words !!! Stare

Georgia city to dissolve its police department

This article missed all the stuff between a city council member and some of the locals. Check the Augusta Chronicle site for a video if still available.

Yup, the locals are fully armed. It used to be an everyday sight, probably still is, to see almost every pick-up truck riding through town with a rifle hanging in their back window. You could leave your truck unlocked and "nobody" bothered your rifle.

Blog: Can we please fix the Oscars?

Summary:  Fun facts: The first-ever Oscar ceremony, held in 1929, ran a brisk 15 minutes. By contrast, the longest was in 2002, clocking in at a monstrous 4 hours and change. As usual, there are things I loved about it and things I didn't. Rather than be snarky or complain, I'll offer a few suggestions on how the organizers might bring the show into the 21st century. Winter storm drama

Athens-Clarke County police officers responded to Pinewood Estates North on a 911 call concerning a heated domestic dispute. it reportedly was an argument over the lack of heat and food in a family's trailer and a woman was threatening to stab anyone who tried to take away her 7-month-old child. State patrol responded also, from their post nearby on U.S. Highway 29 North. The situation apparently was resolved.
