School gunman was Homecoming prince, students say

A student recently crowned freshman class Homecoming prince....

CBS affiliate KIRO in Seattle reported that Fryberg was upset after breaking up with a girl. However, a source who knew Fryberg told KIRO the teen had recently been bullied, pushed around, and suspended from school. Another said Fryberg was suspended from the football team for fighting during a practice.

Prep roundup: Athens Christian, Athens Academy, Commerce roll in shutout victories

@theold33: Dang it, beat me to it. Apparently Social Circle is the only team they can beat. Hell froze over, Oglethorpe wins. Was joking with my wife whether the game could end in a tie and neither win. How close that call was - they went into OT.

My tax $$$ is working after all.

Bishops scrap welcome to gays in sign of split

Question : Are there any non-changing religious rules / beliefs or not? Yes, no, maybe so, winds blowing one way then changes. What's next ? Ignore the 10 commandments so killers don't feel left out, etc., etc. Too many churches blowing with the wind instead of standing on the rock of foundation ! Beliefs that have stood strong for hundreds of years are gone, poof, within the last 10-20 years ! O M G & that's for what it should really mean !

Cruise ship with monitored health worker returns

@FanaticalModerate: The CDC said she could go, which in hindsight was NOT good judgement on their part, as so has been some of their other "blunders". Blame the CDC for allowing the other nurse to board an airplane with a low-grade fever, she called & it was OK'd.

The clinical worker and her husband probably had the cruise bought & payed long before Duncan came to the hospital.

Now we have an Ebola czar with No medical experience, but he's really good at political double-talk and BS'ing ( 2 thumbs up from POTUS ). Puzzled

Woman reports ‘slave labor’ on Arnoldsville farm

At one point she didn’t bathe for a week, she said.

Was she homeless ? Or she chose on her own to not bathe ?

Did the farm job offer say they would feed her ?

We don't know the entire circumstance around this and may not ever.

If she has family in Pennsylvania, she may want to move back to their support.

    Blog: Watching movies by myself

Summary:  I'm not saying it's lonely to be a movie critic, but we often find ourselves seated alone in an empty theatre when we're watching new stuff. I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself. No cartoons on racism

As you might imagine, the vast majority of the editorial cartoons available these days for publication through the syndicate which supplies cartoons to the Athens Banner-Herald/OnlineAthens are addressing the situation in Ferguson, Mo., where the fatal shooting of a black teen by a white police officer has touched off a number of demonstrations -- some peaceful, but many not at all peaceful, with tear gas fired by police officers and gunshots fired by some protester. read more
