Society decided that children had no value in utero and this is what followed.
posted @ Saturday, May 25, 2013 - 08:01@Oh-brother: ARE YOU KIDDING??? If he was that tortured he should have sought out help or bumped himself off before involving two innocent children who loved their mother and, most of all, before killing the mother. Is there a limit to society's bleeding heart mentality?

posted @ Monday, May 6, 2013 - 21:32
yeti - I am for gay marriage, think being gay is not a choice, and am not a religious person, but this country has gotten to a point where someone with opposing views is ostracized for speaking their personal beliefs. He didn't say anything hateful, he just stated his opinion. People are all for tolerance as long as you share their view. Hypocrisy at it's best.
You said this better than I would have. I am a Christian which does not translate to religious and I think it is about time we began to speak up and let the chips fall where they may. We Christians have a right to voice our opinion just as non-Christians do. No one should be discussing their sex life or their sexuality for that matter.
posted @ Tuesday, April 30, 2013 - 17:50This breed of dog should be obliterated by spaying and neutering all of them. I know this is like guns, thugs and criminals want to own one so there should be a law that it is illegal to own one that is not spayed or neutered and the penalty for having one should be severe. I am an animal lover, all animals. Having said that, would you keep a child around a free roaming poisonous snake? Same scenario.

If this family wants to continue to allow the community to express their appreciation for not only this officer but all who put their lives on the line, so be it. Get rid of the chip on your shoulder. It is not appreciated. You're just ugly.

posted @ Tuesday, February 26, 2013 - 19:21If he sold to this 24 year old, he probably has sold to others (maybe youngsters). This father could not prevent what happened to his son, but maybe he got the attention of authorities and may have prevented others from his son's fate. 24 months, 24 years or 84 years, they're still our offspring and we get pi$$ed if something goes wrong in their life. I know some are going to disagree with this, but until it happens to yours, don't assume how you would handle a situation like this. Don't mess with me or mine.

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.
