DISMISSED. See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya! (Ladies, you can do better than this. This kind of dis-respect is NOT normal. Men putting their hands on you to hurt you, is NOT love. Just to be clear.)

A stroll through the pictures was interesting. Where is the Hi Lo Lounge? Never heard of it. I noticed a "Trophy Husband" T-shirt. I guess I'm not up to date on proper election attire. I noticed what looked like "gang" hand gestures. Sheesh..........I'M GETTING OLD!!

(And let me just say, I don't know any of these people...... but like they say, first impressions mean a lot.)

Dilworth: Recent hospital visit to Athens rekindled memories

I agree @RoyBoy:. I do wonder "why" he was at Landmark Hospital rather than St. Marys or Athens Regional. I thought Landmark was "strictly" for the uninsured. Anyway, good health to ya Billy. I sure enjoyed ya over the years. ( I didn't know the "Penny Saver" was even around anymore. Don't see it in Athens at all.)

Athens cops filmed for CMT reality show responding to report of dancing naked man

Nothing funny about this waste of our officers time and patience. We have enough stupidity here without this crap. What the heck does country music have to do with filming stupidity anyway? Probably better to go back to Hollyweird. Sick

Perdue takes the GOP Senate runoff

Jack can put ole "Bessie" back in the barn now and drive his everyday car. Thank goodness his children can now get out of those torn up clothes. I think those commercials did more harm than good. Gotta remember, we are suspicious about you politicians in the first place. We know who you serve first.

Winter Storm Drama And Fixing The Oscars

@Joel Kight: Don't forget not to be a stranger around here. Best of luck to ya.

@jtsim: Sorry about the loss of your beloved pet. We're knocking on that door with our older pets too. Winterville Vet does a fine job helping with this unbearable task, as they have help us before as well. I wanted to post on your "Goodbye my old friend" entry but the lights never "turned on" so that I could. It was well lit over here. (They never would take my 99 cents ya know.) Ya'll have the best weekend possible. Over and out!! Smile

The Editor's Desk: Loss of passenger air service in Athens need not be huge worry
The Oracle of the Athens Banner Herald - Kenny Rogers wanted to do the extension for free, and the then current crop of anti-growth commissioners turned him down.
The then current crop couldn't see a way to "profit" from the Kenny money. Ghost Ouch!

St. Mary's Greensboro hospital to open new cafeteria

I don't think a hospital would want a Lounge that serves alcohol. Most people are depressed/sad/worried about a loved one when in the hospital setting anyway. Why add to their misery by allowing them to sauce up. They need to wait till they get home (no drunks driving home) to wet their worries. @TeeWee: Just my 2 cents on that subject. Smile

Speaker apologizes to Athens teens for adults' mixed messages, encourages them to set goals, be successful

They need the definitions of responsibility and morals and then give them examples. They've gotta start somewhere. If they've never seen examples of these in practice, they don't know what to look for or how to implement them. This is the sad state of our world.

Blog: Can we please fix the Oscars?

Summary:  Fun facts: The first-ever Oscar ceremony, held in 1929, ran a brisk 15 minutes. By contrast, the longest was in 2002, clocking in at a monstrous 4 hours and change. As usual, there are things I loved about it and things I didn't. Rather than be snarky or complain, I'll offer a few suggestions on how the organizers might bring the show into the 21st century. Winter storm drama

Athens-Clarke County police officers responded to Pinewood Estates North on a 911 call concerning a heated domestic dispute. it reportedly was an argument over the lack of heat and food in a family's trailer and a woman was threatening to stab anyone who tried to take away her 7-month-old child. State patrol responded also, from their post nearby on U.S. Highway 29 North. The situation apparently was resolved. An officer reported he was driving the woman and infant to another home in Athens. read more
