jtsim - @10-8 10-41: How could you tell from the mug shot he was a non-believer? He has his eyes closed so he may be praying that the church members don't get him.

I never assumed he was a non-believer. It was a general statement.

how about your tag is expired and I smell Marijuana, I'm gonna search your car. But even if it hadn't been a search they would have found it when they Inventoried the car before it was towed.

They don't tow a car for an expired tag.

Jittery Joe's is in the 1200 block. Five Pts. Eye care is in the 600 block. Any business in between is either a doctor's office, or an attorney. Silver and Archibald is in the 900 block. The parking is in the rear, as it is at most businesses on Milledge.
posted @ Friday, May 3, 2013 - 14:53@matt1141a: I am fully familiar with 4th Amendment waivers. I didn't say anything about that. If the curfew violation occurred after he fled from them, then they did not "catch him violating curfew", as the article states. I don't believe being outside is a curfew violation. I have known alot of people with curfews, and folks on the wrong side of the law. I've never heard anyone say that they had to be indoors. But on Cone Drive, it makes alot of sense. There are only two reasons to be outside at that time of night in that neighborhood. To buy drugs, or to sell them. How 'bout a little clarification, Joe, before the wolves rip me to shreds?

Y'all don't know how probation works. When a convicted felon on felony probation gets charged with more felonies he/she goes back to prison.

You're right. My past experiences involved traffic enforcement and accident reports. Since leaving GSP and moving to Athens, I have to agree 100% with your statement.

I have said this before and, (GROAN) now I guess I have to say it again because you people just wont freakin listen. Not everyone who flies a sign smokes crack! I used to be homeless and used to fly a sign at KFC and Arby's on the eastside, and Academy Sports on the westside. I admit that a portion of my money went to tobacco, beer (only at bedtime), and synthetic pot (when it was legal), but the MAJORITY of the proceeds went to bus fare, the laundromat and detergent, prescriptions, OTC meds, hygiene items (not every homeless person enjoys being filthy), batteries for light, radio, and fan (in the hot months), and propane for cooking and heat (in the winter). So stick that in your shooter and smoke it!

I have made mistakes, but I have permanently changed. You do not get more probation for violating probation. You do jail time. At least 3 weeks before you go to court, and you don't always get out on court day. I have violated probation more than once, as well. I know from experience.

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.
