Athens Banner-Herald introduces All-Access Membership

@Chris White: I'm sorry Chris but I'm not willing to pay $118.56 a year for access to Online Athens. I stand by my original statement that online advertisers will see a drastic drop in traffic. If I were one of these advertisers I would want to decrease my cost in accordance with the percentage decrease in traffic. I hope you sign up enough people to offset the losses in advertising dollars Good luck as I will be out of here as soon as I have to pay.

Athens Banner-Herald introduces All-Access Membership

In other words, "the only way to see us online is to buy our paper." Why would I need online access if I already had the print addition? The online advertisers will see a drastic decrease in traffic to the site and the number of people that do start buying print will not be nearly enough to make up for the loss in on line viewing. Just look at what happened to ESPN.com when they forced people to start using their Facebook profiles to comment on stories, I guarantee the number of people commenting went down at least 75%.

Ohio killer's execution takes almost 25 minutes

I feel no sympathy for this sub-human. If he had the chance to meet his maker he received his final judgement.

The Westminster Christian girls team wins a State Title and none of the girls make this team? I find that hard to believe.

Four officers lose job amid Winder PD cheating scandal

I'm amazed that, as we hold our military to high physical standards, there is obviously no minimum standards for law enforcement officers. I have often wondered how many fat and out of shape officers have resorted to using their weapons simply because they could not physically perform their jobs.

Athens commission to consider bus fee, alternatives

I thought Dumocrats were all about sticking it to the "evil rich". I doubt any rich folks are going to be affected by this fare increase.

News media protest White House press access limits

This is hysterical. The liberal media crying because their "god" won't let them do their jobs. This is what happens when you show blind allegiance.

Fox says Bulldogs aren't 'a good enough defensive team' after loss to Davidson

It's hard to beat any team that shoots 41 free throws. Just ask Duke, that's how they win most of their games

Doctors are told to get serious about obesity

The BMI is a flaming pile of crap. I'm 5' 10" and weigh 213 lbs. I'm also a former college football player that is heavily muscled. All of my bloodwork looks great and, being a regular runner, I'm in great cardiovascular shape. All that being said, I can't get a decent rate on life insurance because of my BMI.

Obama: 'I'm sorry' Americans are losing insurance

This "apology" is nothing more than trying to give cover to the Dumocrats who face reelection next year. I'm surprised the ego of this narcist let the words spill from his lying mouth. Remember this next November: not one single Republican voted for this train wreck called "0bamacare"

Pitts: Shutdown wasn't about Obamacare

Another article by Leonard Pitts written with his head up Barrys butt. Why does the ABH continue to give him space when we all know what the article is going to say before we ever read it: Republicans are evil racists and Obama is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

For Obama, a frustrating health care rollout

I just feel terrible for Barry that he's frustrated about the rollout of a disastrous law. I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight worrying about him. I just wish the affects of this law would only be felt by the idiots that voted for this man, TWICE! Unfortunately we all have to suffer as the Socialist agenda of the left keeps marching on aided by the cheerleaders that call themselves journalists.

Blog: Can we please fix the Oscars?

Summary:  Fun facts: The first-ever Oscar ceremony, held in 1929, ran a brisk 15 minutes. By contrast, the longest was in 2002, clocking in at a monstrous 4 hours and change. As usual, there are things I loved about it and things I didn't. Rather than be snarky or complain, I'll offer a few suggestions on how the organizers might bring the show into the 21st century. Winter storm drama

Athens-Clarke County police officers responded to Pinewood Estates North on a 911 call concerning a heated domestic dispute. it reportedly was an argument over the lack of heat and food in a family's trailer and a woman was threatening to stab anyone who tried to take away her 7-month-old child. State patrol responded also, from their post nearby on U.S. Highway 29 North. The situation apparently was resolved. An officer reported he was driving the woman and infant to another home in Athens. read more
