This is not good for the County....Commissioner Dove and sheriff Thomas are both doing an excellent job for the County...You should get together and settle this. Dove runs the County...The Sheriff provides the security and law enforcement. It is that simple.

Yes, I know what it to kill someone....When it is your life or theirs, and they are trying to take your Country, or to break into your home, it is you against them. Wishfull thinking that they will not harm you or your loved ones will get you or them killed. Which is worse. Killing in combat to save your life, killing a killer to save your life or your love one, or trusting that the man kicking in your door means you no harm.

You have brought up a point that I have been saying for years...If bike riders want to ride on the roads, lets get legislation to make them buy tags. That way they would help pay for the paved roads they want to ride on. I dont object to bike riders, just that they get a free ride.

posted @ Tuesday, January 15, 2013 - 13:25Our local Senators are so much better than those in the National Senate that we should be praising them for their service, not crawling out from under a holier than thou rock to think they can be bought by $100. The political point of view of most of these comments is evidently that of Harry Reid and his blind followers in the U.S. Senate.

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.
