There may be a clear difference on paper, but in real life just how is a difference drawn between the two? Are police officers trained to spot the difference?

posted @ Saturday, June 15, 2013 - 10:19
likethegame - I love how you borrow our newspaper to bash our city, just like you borrow our fire department to put out your fires and respond to your emergencies. You couldn't rant and rave about how terrible Athens is in the Oconee Enterprise?
I commend two law enforcement officials for the good work, but it seems like two men in your position (as leaders) would work to forge a union between two neighboring cities/counties. Instead you say nothing, and relish in the glory of your work. By getting on here and posting like you've done, you are perpetuating the idea that Oconee County does in fact believe their citizens are elite.
Athens may have higher Crime rates, people living in poverty, lower-performing schools, etc. So put up your wall, if you must, but stay out of our restaurants, don't come to our downtown, don't attend our University, and by all means, don't come to a football game.

Last time I checked the University of Georgia is owned by the citizens of the state not ACC. I find it very refreshing that Sheriff Berry is out in the community and posting in public forums in an effort to keep the citizens informed. I've lived here 10 years and I can't recall 3 times that the ACC sheriff or COP has surfaced in a manner such as this.

We'll, the military is nothing more and nothing less than an overbloated "welfare state" for 18, 19, 20 year old peep squeaks who don't want to go to college or technical school (because they ain't got the brains or discipline to handle the rigors of higher education and barely made it through h
s.), and their parents have given them an ultimatum.

As a huge Backstreet Boys fan, I was little perplexed on reading Nick Carter?s book. It?s not like reading a book about Elvis Presley or The Beatles. I didn?t live through those moments. I didn?t see them in person. But as someone who has followed Nick?s career since I became a fan in 1998, not just in the Backstreet Boys, but as a solo artist, I?ve always thought we had a lot in common besides being the same age. read more

The Athens Banner-Herald sports staff combined to win 11 individual awards on Sunday at the Georgia Sports Writers Association's annual meeting in Marietta. You can get a few more details on that in this story ? "Banner-Herald sports staff wins 11 awards" ? and I thought I'd provide some links to the winning stories for the curious. The awards were for the sports staff's work in 2012. read more
