Conn. police: Bomb suspect could be in Honda Civic

@Athens_Rottweiler: Truly odd how every single news outlet in the country is reporting that the suspect MAY be in a green civic with license plate number 116-GC7, yet you, down here in Athens, GA, have reported this to be false! How were you able to come to this conclusion? Please give me some insight into your sources?

Conn. police: Bomb suspect could be in Honda Civic

@Athens_Rottweiler: Aren't we lucky to have a commenter here on our very own hometown newspaper website that know so many details that the media does not! Maybe you should call the FBI and Connecticut police to alert them to your exclusive findings.

Homeless evicted from under Athens bridge where arson fire destroyed camp

I live very close to there. I go to the convenience store up on the corner when I need milk or eggs, tp, etc. I walk my dogs past the new homeless shelter and over the bridge often. I used to take them to the park next to the bridge but the kept rolling in bum [filtered word] so I stopped. Since the fire, there has been a lot more drug activity on the street, in the intersection, at the gas station, in front of the new homeless shelter. Its dangerous. ACCPD should be down there 24/7. Hell, officers should take my dogs for a walk tomorrow, I saw 2 drug deals happen on my walk yesterday. All I'm saying is I liked it better when they were dealing drugs under the bridge and fighting and burning each other down there. Now, since the fire, a lot of that activity has moved up to the street level and someone could get hurt or worse if 5 oh doesn't monitor that already bad intersection more now.

Pop Addict Book Review: "Facing the Music and Living to Talk About It" by Nick Carter

As a huge Backstreet Boys fan, I was little perplexed on reading Nick Carter?s book.  It?s not like reading a book about Elvis Presley or The Beatles. I didn?t live through those moments. I didn?t see them in person. But as someone who has followed Nick?s career since I became a fan in 1998, not just in the Backstreet Boys, but as a solo artist, I?ve always thought we had a lot in common besides being the same age. read more

Links to Banner-Herald's award-winning sports stories

The Athens Banner-Herald sports staff combined to win 11 individual awards on Sunday at the Georgia Sports Writers Association's annual meeting in Marietta. You can get a few more details on that in this story ? "Banner-Herald sports staff wins 11 awards" ? and I thought I'd provide some links to the winning stories for the curious. The awards were for the sports staff's work in 2012. read more
