He did the right thing, I call it scared straight. I only hope her young not having to kill a deer for food soul doesn't fall into the prison society. She doesn't know how good she has it, even if it's ramen everyday, she doesn't know how precious she has this life. 14 years of age. I was seeing the Fuzzy Sprouts and Kingfish when she was born... Get her involved with the human rights festival, and other life changing items. If I could be 14 again, I would be everything anyone would want to be as an adult. posted @ Tuesday, May 14, 2013 - 03:33Can we say F***ing AWESOME! This is why I read the news. Every now and then instead of a depress me now story I get an uplifting story. We should say wow this is great, that society finally is able to get past the glamor, and love people for being a person. It truly is what's inside that counts. That person might be nice looking on the outside, but is bernie madoff on the inside. When your old, and dying, you won't care about your sexy hips, you will care about who is nice enough to roll you over. Kindness is a virtue, love is the best virtue of all. If a person can devote their life to an animal (i.e. horse, dog, cat, possum) then a person can love a fellow person. It is unconditional kindness that we must all strive for. Of course, I'd rather give an acorn to a possum than some of the beggers downtown, but that possum might show better qualities of love. This womans' love and her position will elevate her for all of her life. Kudos!, wonderful story. some snooty girl might have gotten cheated out of her crown, but she would of have thrown it away the following day. This young lady will keep it forever. Maybe the system works.. maybe there is hope in the human race... and the humans might just make it to the finish line.

wow two rich out of touch soul-less people, in a communal hand under chin I'm better than thou stance. If only deer had thumbs.., they'd be in the headlights.
Really?, This is news? OMG (trying to be hip for a generation that doesn't know how to punctuate) Who is Lindsay Lohan, and why should I care? Let's worry about our own children's rehab. Let's worry about our own community for a change. Lindsay... stay in rehab, I think you'll be safer to yourself and the world there. Also, you can afford it. Most of us can't afford a doctor visit if we don't have insurance, but some rich Holly-would has been broad makes the news because of her expensive drug problem and her expensive rehab. Athens Banner, report about the people in Athens that make 1$ above poverty. These folks have to make a choice; go to the doctor and see whats wrong with themselves, or pay rent/food/bills. People are dieing in this country because the hospitals stop the treatment once the money stops pouring in, and your giving print space to a rich, spoiled, drug addict. I only wish I made in a day what she spends on food/clothes/drugs for a day. I guess then I would be able to buy insurance, and worry less if I thought I was going to die of cancer or an accident. Our celebrities get paid millions, and our teachers/first responders/civil servants get paid just above minimum wage. I hope she stays in rehab.(she's safe there, back rubs, methadon, and Dr. Drew) and I never have to hear about her again. Pathetic. I'm afraid to go to the doctor, cause I can't afford the diagnosis, so ignorance is bliss until I die, but ABH writes about generic LiLo. Dang, if you want this type of news go to SFGATE or NEWYORKPOST, I had a little respect for this rag, but really, come on. Report what the poor go through in Athens. Why is it that a homeless man gets seen for a cough at the emergency room before I do with a gashing cut, and then I get the bill for 200$ per stitch. So I have to tell my landlord I'm gonna be late on the rent and I have to pick up extra shifts at work, and I have to my trade of work on the side after my 40-60 hour work week. It makes me want to just quit my job and pan handle for a living. It seems the homeless get free medical care cause they make less than 14,000 a year, but me at 20,000 will die if I get cancer or anything else. One MRI cost 2,000. A false heart attack, including tests costs 11,000. The lower middle class can not afford to stay alive. Lindsey Lohan should do something for the people, and quit doing cocaine, alcohol, and sex parties. Who do you look up to? Holly would, or your community.
posted @ Friday, May 3, 2013 - 05:48To have no respect for the dead is to have no respect for the living. They should have to fill sunken graves with dirt in the Smokies and North Ga. Mountains, and scrub clean, marble memorials at national parks, confederate/union/modern soldier memorials, and be on their hands and knees scrubbing constantly the graves of those that have caretakers no more. I forgive these cowards for their deeds, but being human I still can't help to hope that their knees give out from scrubbing tombstones, and the pain that shoots up their leg bones with every step reminds them of their disrespect for buried souls that should forever rest in peace. I only hope that the ghosts that inhabited the graves that these crooks broke into haunt their dreams until the day these crooks are buried also. May their every night be filled with nightmares, wretched vinegar smelling sweat, cold/hot flashes, PTSD flashbacks, restless nights, nights where 3 hours of sleep is a good night. May the demons of the night be a virus on their souls. Regardless of the graves, anytime you disrespect a veterans grave, I only pray that the vices the veteran/dead had to live with in life are given to those that destroy a bodies final resting place. I have no Earthly pity for these criminals.

I send good wishes out to Officer Beavers, and hope that the person that hit him gets over the horrible fact that they hit a person. It could be that the light wasn't working, it could be that one of the parties was complacent. I just couldn't imagine the horrible feelings one would have after hitting a person/officer. I'm glad he's gonna be ok. I hope someones insurance covers the medical costs. I hope Officer Beavers can be back on the beat soon, doing the thing he's devoted his life to doing. I praise the first responders on this one. Our public servants devote their lives to saving people, and making peoples lives safer. I commend them. Like most people that put on a civil service uniform, it takes a lot to keep these good men/women down.

We should band together as a community and stop this type of behavior before it gets out of hand. These kids just need direction in life and think it's cool to be a thug. How wrong they are. It leads to assault, burglary, and murder, not to mention the easiest ways to make money (robbery, drug dealing, and prostitution). Society needs to stop texting, get off facebook, and take a long hard look at the future of America.

" Ok,", nuff said. Even if there was some abuse it was probably just, "no son you can't drink 5 shots of vodka before going to high school." I've worked with RUSSIANS and they do drink alot, everyday. Many shots a day.. I like my evening toddy, or a nice IPA, but I can't nor ever will be able to hang with those from Russia. If this orphans parents were drinkers, and if he was old enough to remember, of course Americans are going to seem repressive. We care and want to know if our children are drinking, or having sex. Our society is more conservative, (and that's one reason I love America), we care if our 14 year olds are having sex, we don't want our 16 year olds dieing in a 16 year old drag race drunk fest. We don't have a draft. Our Civil War ended 150 years ago. We don't have to serve a king or prime minister or preacher anymore. We got it good. That kid is just whining, I'm sure that when you compare his complaints to his countries violence*...We are still in a paradise. Even all the fools and haters of this beloved land that still set foot on it will cry when you
set them on the field of eastern africa and the Sahara landscape. If you hate America then you prefer the Sahara over The Maze. This is all just media propaganda against America, We deserve better. There are complaints by teenagers against their parents everyday. If we took them all seriously we would have to start the draft again to get rid of all the folks who hated their parents. It's just a Teenager "bi+tchin'" (i.e. complaining). about their situation. Bad USA propaganda. Support your land, your home. This is where we live. We will live here forever, from Coos Bay to Kitty Hawk, from Bonny Dune to Resaca Beach, America is still strong, put politics aside, and; "we all live for good morals, learning/education, self worth, proper employment, provisions for loved ones, shelter for the people". As the hip hop world once said, "Don't believe the hype!.."

who are they gonna sue? The Bank? no one owns this trash, it's deemed garbage, public domain, landfill space. Some people can't afford ramen noodles, or their winter gas bill. Any help is worth giving. Have you not heard of a food bank, they don;t care where the food comes from, they accept it. I give a few bags every month. Couldn't a grocery store give these items to a food bank. I don't support food donor anarchy on the street, but if some food banks could have been notified days before, they would have gladly worked 24hr shifts to move it out. Yes the bank owns this building, but folks without, should have the ability to have what is thrown away. By the way, there wouldn't have been lawsuits, poor people can't afford lawyers. The Owners are in the wrong, only if the bank decided they could have it for charity or give it away, otherwise Robin Hood lost today.

I'm sorry a 15 year old is a 15 year old. Where were your parents "mamas boy" when you were 15? Were you stuck inside of mama's home all the time so she could watch you, cause you weren't old enough to be an adult? Hey "OneryConservative" Your new name here is Mamas Boy, cause you think every 15 year old should have every move watched by their parents. I hope you never ride a dirt bike "as the adult you are" and hit a trip wire. Cause Mamas boy, you have no concern for life. Stay away and wait for the court summons. They are coming soon. If you are the property owner expect to lose it. You aren't conservative, you are a disgrace. You are the reason this country is losing. You should just ride a dirt bike into a trip wire and see how it feels. Stop claiming your conservative, your the truest form of northern aggression, please leave the south now!
@OrneryConservative:
Your a fool, what if it was your son, daughter, or wife? How many times have you stepped on private property and not known it, did your leg get blown off by a land mine? No, You sir are a fool, with fools intentions. We should be able to hunt, walk, and ride a dirt bike wherever we please as long as the land is marked for being able to. You sir, should move to N. Korea if you have such values. You probably do live in N. Korea and are just posting your values on a US paper. Go back to your home country and lands of no freedom and stay away from mine. The day I agree with you and put land mines in my yard is the day people like you invade my country. A wire across a trail. That sounds like manslaughter, that you condone. If I were the father of that boy I'd have alot of soul searching to do to explain why someone could be so cruel. Don't side with these evil people, or the very same sword you live by you will one day fall on.
posted @ Monday, March 11, 2013 - 17:39There should have been flagging on that cable, it appears a civil lawsuit is in the air, the parents of that teen should soon enough own that property. I would go as far as to charge involuntary manslaughter against the property owners. You don't put up traps, snares, or snag wires unless they are marked. The property owners should feel a lifetime of guilt from this incident. They killed someones son. People need to think about their actions, one missed step when walking the clock of destiny can alter your own as well as your neighbors life. To string a cable across a well known path is childish, even torturous. It reminds me of warfare, or the Viet Cong. These land owners need to be prosecuted, or at least pay for all expenses and set up an education fund in the boys name. If I had neighbors like them I'd warn the whole land, put up fliers, etc.. These folks are not to be trusted, and intend malicious harm on any and all around.
posted @ Monday, March 11, 2013 - 17:32I was in New York last December. All a person has to do is buy a 2 litter bottle of sealed soda instead of the big gulp. This rule would have made things worse. Bloomberg is a rich politician that should never be in power. The middle class and poor hate him in New York. He only helps out his "kind" the rich. The farce of his hurricane recovery was well placed. I knew people who had no drinking water on Staten Island and would go up to "his" recovery efforts and ask for a bottle of water and be turned down, because it was all for show. When Obama came and visited the army reserve came in and started putting up sheet rock, when Obama left, they did too. It's such a farce, these rich, elite politicians don't care about you or I, they only care about their media image. This Bloomberg is a crock of poop in New York. His stop and frisk laws, come on... if an ACC police officer stopped and frisked downtown athens on a weekend night we wouldn't have enough jail space to hold them in the entire state of Ga., but as I've said before, crime is money. The more criminals you let out and re-catch the more the cops, jails, etc.. get paid. Taking away a 22 oz. soda, but allowing a 24 oz. beer to be sold is just stepping on our freedoms. We don't need a nanny to tell us how to act. We don't need a babysitter to say, "now now adult you can't make up your mind in your life, no 22 oz coke for you." I'm glad his foolishness hasn't caught on in other cities. This guy is a joke. I wish it were Salem in the 1600's and I'd call him a witch. Good politicians don't force their citizens into a police state, they listen to them. Politicians are suppose to represent the citizens, not repress them. Folks, keep you eyes, mouth, and ears open, the worst is yet to come. Fight it!

posted @ Saturday, March 9, 2013 - 14:48also, charge the bars. For over serving, if a man is drunk, do not serve him. It is a law that is not enforced in Athens. It should be. It is in every city but..., a responsible bar would not serve a very drunk person, and they should know a fake id from a real one. I know every person is cash money., but a real bar owner won't suffice 5$ for pure chaos on the street. Athens had in 1999 about 5 more bars than churches.. maybe it should be a requirement for all bartenders to either pray, meditate, or just give thanks....., before their shifts. It seems that what they pour into the community could at least be thought about. I'm all for liquor, I drank enough moonshine growing up to light all of athens, but if we make all bartenders thank about each pour maybe we will save 1 or 2 lives. Even I as a drinker myself sometimes has to think, will one more drink get me to sleep that much sooner? nope.... I just go to bed, and save some money for food and rent.

now if you were an athens tech student who was poor and paying for his own education you'd understand a man does lay with the company he chooses, and he is one of them, be not the pig, be the person that is part of and helps this great place. never be part of the pig. we eat them for breakfast.
ah man, he might have to do real time this time, like 6 months or less. Wow, he might even get 3-5 years probation. Which means, like 6 months... If they give him 10 years, it means one year. Maybe I'm in the wrong profession, maybe I should move back to Athens and join the dark side. All I risk is probation. I could, steal, rob,. and sell dope, maybe even become a pimp... The criminal possibilities are endless, and all I would get was probation... until they find out, I'm middle class, can afford a good lawyer, and I'm white... Then I would get real prison time. Talk about reverse racism. How come it appears that all the hood rats get released early to do more crime? Why, because crime pays... It pays the DA, it pays the cops, it pays the jailers, it is big profit to a city, and the more someone can get arrested the higher the amount of cash is pumped into the cop economy. If "crime" wasn't a business you'd rehabilitate, prosecute, keep them for full sentences, etc.. but that my friend does not make profits to the private prisons and the local cop budget. They know if they let the rats out early, they will be back to justify bigger budgets and more arrests given credit to the local ACCP. It's using the underclass, undereducated, and poor as a tool to justify your budget. Economics 101, always have a repeat customer and your business will flourish.

Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.
