Man claiming to be Marine questions service of wrong Athens cop

The kid is an idiot, impersonating a marine. But the article implies that Ms. Gale served in the military but did not state what branch.

Thanks for her military service, but in which branch of the military did Ms. Gale serve?

Georgia Theatre sold to group of investors

WRONG! People donated money to help HIM rebuild because HE did not have enough insurance....NOT so he could make money selling the beloved GA Theatre TO AN OUT-OF-TOWN CORPORATION!

The big question is now that he has mislead everyone and sold out, will he pay everyone back? Or just take the money and run?

Fire Fly Trail and residences' proximity to Oconee Street draw Athens-Clarke Commission attention at Selig hearing

This wreck is FAR WORSE than the first plan. They should have given us a choice between the two. Even with the Wally World, most of us would rather have the first one rather than this monstrosity.

Planning OKs 15 ground-floor apartments for Selig project, sends it to Athens commission for final approval

A - WHERE WAS EVERYONE??? Don't you people care about Athens?

B - Hate to admit it, but the first plan was better than this, even with a Wally World. This is much, much WORSE!

Is it too late to go back to the first one?

Motorist arrested for ghost-riding in downtown Athens
Spudgun2020 - @shjackson: She is a real victim of a crime. Not some imaginary victim of a childish stunt. If you think the potential for harming someone is a crime consider that you could EASILY run over a neighbor backing out of your driveway..
Wow. Spudgun sticking up for the drunk drivers. Ugh. Makes me think everyone is right, this guy doesn't think there's anything wrong with drinking and driving and, yeah, he SHOULD get a dui charge. + 1 here. He thinks drinking and driving and almost running down a crowd on the sidewalk is a childish stunt? Wow. Hell yeah....Charge the guy.

Motorist arrested for ghost-riding in downtown Athens
MotherBear - The sad thing is that his townie friends are all making a townie hero of him right now. It's embarrassing, if you ask me.
Not really. Only the most serious losers find this amusing. Ugh. Someone could have easily been maimed or killed.

"townie hero?" Hardly. More like "Clownie Zero."

Alabama lineman will not be disciplined by SEC for hit on UGA's Murray

Rules to protect QB's are just that: to protect the QB when he is QB with the ball. In the play in question, the QB was no longer a QB, Alabama had the ball. At that point, the QB ran into the direction of the ball and action on the field and was no longer a QB. At that point, he was a blocker. And he got blocked all right. CREAMED! Legal play, legal hit. Refs and SEC review officials got it exactly right.

Noooooooooooooooooooooo! HELL NO! This is NOT happening...we are losing big time if this goes through...
SarahFlo - What 3 homely looking ugly morons. With stupid looks and stupid brains to match, guess you can't even get a date on Friday night with some pretty girls like the rest of the guys, so you have to go boff each other on the ball field at night.

Ugly? Yes. Stupid? Oh, my...absolutely no doubt! Ugly and dumb as they are, though, I'm sure they will be getting some lovely "dates" in the jail...whether they want one or not! Wink

Man injured in collision with 18-wheeler on the Athens Perimeter

I believe the minimum speed limit on the perimeter is 40mph. Hate seeing people with cars with problems trying to drive just to save a few dollars on a tow. If your car is stalling it is not safe to drive and you should not be on the road. He should have pulled his car all the way off the road and called a tow truck. He's lucky to be alive. And lucky he didn't get anyone killed.

    Blog: Watching movies by myself

Summary:  I'm not saying it's lonely to be a movie critic, but we often find ourselves seated alone in an empty theatre when we're watching new stuff. I know people who say they won't go see anything unless they have at least one other person to go with, but I've always enjoyed having the place to myself. No cartoons on racism

As you might imagine, the vast majority of the editorial cartoons available these days for publication through the syndicate which supplies cartoons to the Athens Banner-Herald/OnlineAthens are addressing the situation in Ferguson, Mo., where the fatal shooting of a black teen by a white police officer has touched off a number of demonstrations -- some peaceful, but many not at all peaceful, with tear gas fired by police officers and gunshots fired by some protester. read more
