Thanks Bellehowell. Had to "plus" you. She's a cutey
@GroversMill Why, I even remember a time when a lone police officer could write a speeding ticket without the aid of two or three other units. You tell people that nowadays, and they think it's science fiction.
I couldn't agree more, GM. And that's sorta the point I tried to make. Unfortunately those times are gone forever. We can agree to disagree, and that's ok. I'm good with that. I still feel that the Officers have to err on the side of caution.

"The officer got out with his gun drawn, reached into the truck to turn it off the pickup and ordered the driver to get out, according to police."
I find some of these policies to be more than a little trigger-happy, and cowardly in many respects.
I couldn't DISAGREE more, GM. Are you serious? These guys, and gals put their lives on the line every day, and in every instance. How did the Cop know this guy wasn't dangerous, or even suicidal? There are still, unfortunately, a lot of Jamie Hood's out there. Just not caught, at least not yet.

It is just sickening to read about a dirty old man ( 61 yrs. old ) trading narcotics for sex with some skanky , strung out disease infested Ho.
Is the "27" your age, or IQ? Being a 61 yr. old, I'll go 1-on-1 in ANY sport you choose
I worked with Sherrill Abney while with Southern Bell back in the 70's. trust me, he was just as big an arrogant sob then as he is now

sorry about the double post
No problem, m c. No, I don't think LL is a thug. I think she's worse. And BTW, if KK were white, I'd say the same thing about him. It's more about the way he died, which is why I'm afraid young people who glorify him, might possibly be tempted to do drugs, thinking they're invincible. Hopefully, they will be able to see through that.

E.J.
New York City implemented a program of serious penalties for minor crimes like turnstyle-jumping and littering, particularly by young people, some years ago
Just curious E.J. What programs are you referring to? Or is it too much to note.
Amazing! The media keeps glorifying this thug, who, from his own Mama's lips, said he overdosed. What an example, NOT!!

Old drunk. I'll bet if he had hit and killed a 10 year old child when he got in that drunk driving accident a few years ago, you would idolize his "hard drinking" country roughneck image. Oh the "people" we worship!

Rep. Regina Quick, R-Athens, was one of two local delegates to score less than an "A+" in the Chamber of Commerce's annual legislative score card. She and I played phone tag Monday when I was reporting the story and I wasn't able to get her comments in a timely fashion. Instead, she sent over this statement Wednesday morning and she did not mince her words. (Links and italicized portions are my own; otherwise, it's as she wrote it.) Dear Friends: read more

The committee opted Tuesday night to put off deciding on the ordinance until, at the earliest, its next meeting. Of note: The Athens-Clarke County attorney highlighted that the proposed times are, in essence, placeholders for the commission to change or keep as it pleases.
